.. to expect the same as my dh when i'm sick?

when my dh is sick, he takes time off work, comes home and goes straight to bed for the day. or he watches the tv whilst groaning and holding a hand dramatically to his forehead. i am expected to keep dd quiet, out of his way and cook whatever is required, even if i don't have the ingredients in the house.

when i get sick feck all changes. dh goes to work, the washing gets done, the food is on the table. arghghghgh let's just say, i'm hoping for some time off this weekend.

do you think i'll get it?

dh acts very similar but not going bed and etc.. thats a bit ott.
i always tell man are so weak. when dh have cold he is sooooo sick, poooor man once i acted exact the same he did, made sure he remembered his ppor wife got cold, and then ever since he actually stopped or less do it now
you just need little bit more acting like actors do

Greensleeves · 01/03/2007 21:34

Not unreasonable, but totally unrealistic

Greensleeves · 01/03/2007 21:36

well, that was a prize cunt-up if ever I saw one

I meant cock-up, but meant to say cunt-up because it's funnier (ie ruder, and I'm drunk)

but oh bollocks

whiffywarthog · 01/03/2007 21:41

i think i need some of what you're having greeny...

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 01/03/2007 21:42

no, I need it ALL

FrannyandZooey · 01/03/2007 21:44

Greeny

why are you drunk? Is there a unicorn there?

whiffywarthog · 01/03/2007 21:44

snort. you're just like my dh.

this is my plan of action (or inaction heh). on saturday, i shall act exactly like him. do bugger all with dd, just groan and fart all day. and demand things while snivelling. i might have to pretend as i could have recovered by then, but it'll be worth it.

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 01/03/2007 21:45

no, but he's COMING

en route to Afghanistan

I'm not drunk , but I certainly am tired and emotional

FrannyandZooey · 01/03/2007 21:52

Oh Greeny

blardy hell are me and HC going to get sloppy emails again tonight?

you certainly give good value for money when ratarsed I must say

FrannyandZooey · 01/03/2007 21:53

oh and I am sorry about Afghanistan

tell me about it tomorrow or whenever you manage to sober up

whiffywarthog · 02/03/2007 06:07

oi piss off and hijack someone else's thread! how dare you? how very dare you?

OP posts:
belgo · 02/03/2007 06:09

wwh - you're obviously not getting a lie in despite being ill!

FrannyandZooey · 02/03/2007 08:15

Oops sorry warthog

we didn't even apologise did we

mind you I think having your thread hijacked for Greeny's drunken ramblings is a badge of honour really

(hope you feel better)

whiffywarthog · 02/03/2007 10:19

no bloody lie in. er well did actually get back to sleep and dh took her from 8:30 to 9:15.. but still.

no worries franny is this not an unreasonable thread?

OP posts:
Biglips · 02/03/2007 10:21

whiffy - but thats normal for men as men whinge and moan over a slightest cold but we women are stronger than men and also gotta do the household chores on top

mumto3girls · 02/03/2007 10:25

You get what you insist on in this life...sometimes

whiffywarthog · 02/03/2007 15:26

quite right.

so dh took a couple of hours off work to help me this afternoon. he's lying on the bed saying he's exhausted. he's lucky to be alive, he just doesn't know it.

Iklboo · 02/03/2007 15:31

Had really bad cold t'other week - virtually dead on me feet. DH says breezily - "oh, I'll tell CM we won't be needing her this week then" for our 16 month old dynamo

TODAY - DH takes DS to a World Book day party for ONE HOUR and phoned me to tell me how tired he was running round after DS (in a safe play environment)

So...am I unreasonable in wanting to serve DH his knackers for his tea?

Judy1234 · 02/03/2007 15:58

But what really mattesr is the result - do you sigh, smile and put up with it or effect change?

madmarchhare · 02/03/2007 16:02

exactly
