To wonder why I'm growing wisdom teeth at 32

Just that really, is it that common? This one first showed signs of appearing a year ago and is still coming down.

Booking in to see a dentist next week

I'm similar age and only have half of one and the very tip of another. Been X-rayed and they're all in the right direction they're just taking their bloomin time!

I think it's only a problem if they start giving you pain (behind the usual growing pain) but if you haven't had a discussion with your dentist to check they're all in the right place and not going to cause problems, it might be worth mentioning it next time you go.

SlipperyLizard · 23/02/2017 08:32

I got my first at 21, my second is now coming through age 39!

Not sure how common it is, I think these things just happen when they happen!

maltesersarethedevil · 23/02/2017 08:32

My wisdom teeth started causing trouble between 29-32.

Only stopped cos had them all removed.

Grapeeatingweirdo · 23/02/2017 08:45

Phew! Thanks for those replies.

I seem to be sprouting another one as well. And also, in the gum above where my front teeth are, a small white point has appeared. Time to get me to a dentist and get whatever it is removed before it starts to impact my existing teeth.

I've always hated my teeth but liked that the top front ones are really straight. This is scary

I am 38 and all my wisdom teeth are still up in my gums! One is impacted, the other 3 are facing in the right direction, just not came down

WhoKn0wsWhereTheTimeG0es · 23/02/2017 08:54

I'm 49 and they are all still to emerge, my dentist says it can happen at any age.

Grapeeatingweirdo · 23/02/2017 08:54

Can you grow new teeth that aren't wisdom teeth in your thirties?

Like at the front above your front teeth? I'm freaking out about this white bit I can now see and the fact that it stings

OP posts:
Surreyblah · 23/02/2017 09:11

Ouch!

Applebite · 23/02/2017 09:12

Yep, I have one that's been half out since I was 19 and 1 that started to emerge last year, 20 years later! Other side of my mouth has 2 smooth spaces where they could erupt one day.

Weird little bastards.

DappledThings · 23/02/2017 09:13

I got all 4 between about 28 and 30. Gave me a lot of sympathy for babies!

justilou · 23/02/2017 09:24

If it makes you feel better, I went to the dentist when I thought my wisdom teeth were coming through - aged 29. They were my twelve year old molars. Pity nobody had picked up the fact that I was missing so many fangs....

peaceloveandbiscuits · 23/02/2017 10:02

Depends how much room they have to grow. If there's not enough room they'll never erupt fully, but keep giving you hassle. I had to have one removed because it could only partially erupt and was giving me so much pain whenever it decided to start grumbling again.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 23/02/2017 10:03

The front tooth sounds very weird! Defo see what a dentist says about that.

RedGrapeCornSnake · 23/02/2017 10:06

I'm 38 and my very first spike of a wisdom tooth popped through a few months ago. I have also recently been diagnosed with cataracts. It's a confusing time for my body - can't decide if I'm 18 or 80!

Grapeeatingweirdo · 23/02/2017 10:22

Very confusing RedGrape, love the name by the way!

The front gum thing is weird. It's way above my front teeth and is just a small painful hard white sharp lump that looks like it could be a shard of bone or a tooth fragment. I've only noticed it today because the area above it is sore.

hellsbellsmelons · 23/02/2017 10:23

I used to be a dental nurse and it is quite common.
The dentist I worked for had his come through in his 50's!

Could it be a shard of Pringle? Grin

Tumtitum · 23/02/2017 10:49

Could it be receding gums?

StormzyInaTeaCup · 23/02/2017 10:53

Got mine aged 40 Smile

Grapeeatingweirdo · 23/02/2017 10:56

Grapeeatingweirdo · 23/02/2017 12:34

Has the weird tooth shard thing happened to anyone here? Hope it doesn't mean i'm doing to lose any top teeth

OP posts:
Grapeeatingweirdo · 23/02/2017 12:35

*going. Sorry.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 23/02/2017 13:13

I'm 34, the last time I saw the dentist he said it's unlikely mine with some through now.

I really hope he's right because I don't want all my teeth pushes out of alignment Sad

kelper · 23/02/2017 13:16

I only had one wisdom tooth, which was removed when I was 28 as it was coming sideways down my lower jaw :-/
God knows where the other 3 are, perhaps I've evolved quicker than you lot 😂😂😂
