What address? Applying for driving license, no application address given?

I'm applying for a uk driving license but the form doesn't tell me the address to send the application to, only a postcode.
Can anyone help?

Dvla, Swansea, post code

B1rdonawire · 20/02/2017 14:35

Looks like it's just town and postcode - Swansea SA99 1BN - assume it's big enough the postie will find it Grin

Dvla, Swansea. Sa99 1ba

myoriginal3 · 20/02/2017 14:36

Ok, it does say to put Swansea on the postal order. I'm sending my only ID with this so I need it not to get lost.

I worked for Royal Mail and know it's post code off by heart, the amount of post we'd get for it. Even DVLA would probably get it there!

myoriginal3 · 20/02/2017 14:38

I don't have my Irish driving license to send as that was stolen, so just have a letter from the DVLA equivalent in Ireland. Presumably that works?

I really need this to work.
The letter from Ireland cost me about 40, now this application is 43. I just hope they issue the dammed thing.

Next port of call is trying to get my Irish passport reissued as that was stolen also. *sigh. Thieves are cunts.

For anyone who's driven in the UK for more than a few years, they probably know the DVLAs address without thinking too hard about it, or at least as far as DVLA Swansea SA99, which is probably enough anyway.

They must get a massive amount of post. I always imagine an enormous building that takes up half of Swansea and is visible from space.

Different postcodes for different applications (first licence, lost/replacement, change of name or address etc) so check the back of the form- the one you tear off. Theres a list of postcodes there

FruSkogKattOla · 20/02/2017 15:25

Here's the map. The DVLA has its own personal postcode. Actually, it's nice to see that there's a 'nursery' quite close by - presumably for the children of parents who work at the DVLA?

Thanks. I know the postcode I need to use. I just didn't fancy sticking merely a postcode on an envelope.

FruSkogg - there's also a nearby crematorium should they pop their clogs.

I had to renew mine last week and on the back of the form was different postcodes for different things. I'd gone to get my new (not brand new 3 years old) car only to find my DL was out of date Blush

TheProblemOfSusan · 20/02/2017 17:04

If feels weird, doesn't it, but honestly it works - they get so much post they just don't need a full address.

FruSkogKattOla · 20/02/2017 17:18

"there's also a nearby crematorium should they pop their clogs". Yes, I saw that too - from the cradle to the grave!!

But, realistically - and as PPs have said - that is the address. You could post it 'registered' or 'signed for' though.

myoriginal3 · 21/02/2017 10:23

Yes, I think I will send it registered come to think of it.
