To ask for help with buying a car? Reputable dealers?

Long story short, I need a new ( used) car.
Last time I bought a car, you looked in the local paper, or maybe exchange and Mart, and went to see the ones nearest, using Parker's guide to help on pricing.
Doing it online just isn't working for me, I can't compare properly.
So does anyone know reputable dealers in North London?

Realistically you'd be better off buying privately. A sub £2k car from a dealer is really a £1k car and so well into banger territory. At that price point I'd be looking for something Japanese from a private buyer and getting an AA inspection done for peace of mind.
