to sk for advice on fitting in exercise?

Posting here for traffic.
I need to lose weight and have been trying hard to do so with some success and a few wagons fallen off. That bit I have in hand. However, I also need to get a lot fitter.
My problem is, my daily schedule. I am not making excuses, really I'm not. I struggle to fit exercise in.
6.30 Wake up. Always knackered due to insomnia
8.00 Leave house, having first done some house work and got self and kids ready
8.15 At work
3.20 Finish work. Sometimes I get a fifteen minute morning break, sometimes I don't. (I'm a TA. That's just how it goes.) once a week I have a break duty. Lunch is 45 minutes in theory but I rarely get all of that. Twice a week I have a dinner duty, so only 20 minutes for lunch.
From work, I go to pick the kids up and then they have activities every night till at least six. Sometimes I can take a walk while they do their thing. Some activities require me to stick around just in case.

6-6.30 - Home, cook, homework, reading, spellings etc
Sometime between 7 and eight or even later, husband comes home from work.
Weekends are kids' activities and housework and just trying to have an actual life!

We have no family to help out. It's nearly all up to me. We can't afford endless babysitters or a cleaner.
So, how can I fit more exercise in?

How about a 30-minute jog around the neighbourhood once your husband gets home?

A lot! However, they are not the issue. And the activities are non negotiable.

Can you do the shred in the evening?

Without sounding harsh, you are making excuses.
You've zero time to yourself because of activities that run 3 hours every day of the week - there has got to be something that can be scaled back.

I was expecting to come on and see that you were working full time and also managing the kids/house and I would have sympathised with you as I'm in the same situation but I do squeeze in exercise as it's important for my health...

Classes at the weekend? Some start early so you could be back by 8-9 meaning you still have family time.

Swimming all together. You do 'proper' swimming for 20-30 mins and husband messes about with kids, then you join in.

Get some weights- I don't mean loads, just some 3 and 5 kg ones for example, and do a weight session after kids in bed and before husband comes home. 30 mins of this would be beneficial- weight training is a great weight loss tool. You could invest in some PT sessions for a month and then continue to do those exercises at home on you own.

Running maybe. Depends on the activity as I have no intention of running round the industrial estate where a couple of the activities happen after dark but for some I could.

YouTube some short exercise videos. You may be able to fit them in during odd 20 mins. Maybe the kids could join in too.
Family swim at weekends? Take it in turns to do lengths/watch kiss with your DH.

Plan 15mins of HIT 3-4 a week at 06.10.
activities that youre able to leave kids use couch to 5k app or similar.

Red wine your advice is great, thanks, excellent ideas. But not the PT, I'm afraid as funds won't stretch to that.

Basically you can fit something in if you really want to. You may also sleep better if you're exercising more.

How old are your children?

Get a no equipment HITT video and stick it on for 15 mins in the evening?

Op the shred is amazing and all you need to do is buy weights. You can also get endless amounts of hiit work outs on YouTube. The body coach is pretty good as he has ones suitable for different fitnesses

I am a single parent but have my 17yo to mind my 7yo.

I swim from 9.30 - 10pm (a door to door 1hr trip with driving, changing etc) so DS1 is minding DS2 but not having to do anything since DS2 is asleep.

I get up very early to run.

You say "just trying to have an actual life!" at the weekend. For me, exercise is part of that actual life and something to be fitted in with everything else (with obvious balancing of priorities).

I don't mind running at night though.

You can find the shred on YouTube. There are three levels. Stay with level one.

Spend family time at the weekends doing long country walks.

Also, if you cut down on some of the kids' activities you might be able to afford a personal trainer. You matter too matey xx It's not all about the kids.
