Here's my story, I do hope someone else has been in the exact same position and can help me!

Some things I say may not be relevant but I want to give as much info as I can.

I'm 30 weeks pregnant, not with the father anymore.
I am 26 (nearly 27)
I am working full time.
I have just got a flat I've been waiting to hear from, will be moving in on the 6th march (if all goes well).
I will also be taking mat leave which will start on the 6th march....company doesn't offer me any extras except SMP.

When I put my claim in for HB, how will they calculate my entitlement as the day I make the claim is the day I go on mat leave but obviously proof of income will be 2 months wage slips from before the claim which state I'm earning a full monthly wage!

Please help me mums! What do I do??

Are you in a universal credit area? Or will it still be housing benefit you're claiming?

Housing benefit. It's not in my area

Tell them things as they are. They should accept that you are going on maternity leave on SMP, show them your employment contract and any other document showing when your maternity leave starts if necessary. Don't delay claiming as they won't backdate it for more than a month if that. Hopefully they will process the claim straight away and you will provide the payslips when you have them.

Don't you have a letter from your employer stating the date you go on maternity leave and receive SMP ?

If you are worried about the time it takes for the council to process the claim, make an advance claim. Good luck and take care!

Weirdly enough, I've not been given that letter from work :/
