To wear jeans to an interview

That's it really... WIBU to wear black skinny jeans and a blouse with smart shoes to an internal interview?
It will be held at some point in the middle of my working day at the end of this week. Usually a very casual office, I generally wear jeans, trainers/uggs and a tshirt so would defiantly look smarter than usual..

Loads will say no but I think that sounds smart and in keeping with your office.

That's what I'm thinking Anon no one dresses smart, even the 'big bosses' generally wear jeans unless they have visitors

The old saying "dress for the job you want, not the job you have" seems appropriate here.
If you would wear jeans for the job you are applying for then you're probably OK. Personally I wouldn't.

It is a team manager job, however I have been doing said job on a seconded basis for 5 months and have always worn jeans etc.. It's such a tough one, don't want to look like a twat I've tried too hard rocking up in a suit but don't want to look like I'm not arsed. Maybe I could play it safe with a fairly casual dress with tights and flats

I'd probably go a bit more posh than usual and I'm a jeans regular. Even if it's an internal post. If I really wanted the job.
That said, I've been reading all the recent stuff about dress codes and it makes me grrrr. Ideally you'd wear what makes you comfortable, but it's not an ideal world is it?

No you don't need the smart suit look by the sound of it. Don't you have any non-jeans trousers?

I would be inclined to up it a notch. Maybe add a jacket?. I don't think jeans is the issue per se, but dressing for the role above is good advice (and got me my current job!) and I think it shows thought and respect for the position and that you're taking it seriously.

If the people doing the job you are interviewing for aren't in suits then don't. You will look like a twat wearing a suit in my workplace so I can understand. No one is in anything like a suit.

I think in context of usual workwear that would be fine.

But why not casually ask tomorrow the person interviewing whether they are expecting you to be in a suit, if they say no, then skinny jeans and blouse will be ok.

I don't have any trousers (I know that sounds really strange but I'm not a trouser kind of person and have been in this current job for 5 years so no need for interview attire until now) and am really skint so not really in a position to go shopping for new. Might have to take a trip so primani or Asda though and get some

Good advice all round up there. I think I will ask the interviewer, she's my current boss so I feel very comfortable around her. And I like the idea of adding a jacket, I have a few nice blazers that will defiantly smarten up jeans

In which case a dress would work instead

You can get an account online with repayment options with most stores pretty easily these days.
I'm not advocating getting into debt but it's an interview and it's important.

Dress,and flats is good.or jeans accessorised smartly is good too

Black skinnies (or slimleg if you have them) with a blazer will probably look smarter and more appropriate in the context you described than a pair of primark or asda trousers.

Yes to the smart blazer idea. Really adds to the professional look!
But above all, be yourself, sell yourself, make sure they know how brilliant you are and they can't do without you!

I think I'll have a try on tonight of my dress etc and jeans with blouse and blazer and see what I feel most comfortable in. I really do want to make a good impression, they already know me really well and what I can do but I want them to know how much I want the job and how I am the right person for it
