To use this visitor parking space

Tomorrow I am going to an appointment at someone's flat in a very busy part of town which is well known to be a parking nightmare, you can drive round for ages without finding a space, and when you do they are tiny and expensive.
At this appointment tomorrow I have been told by the owner I can use one of the visitor parking bays for the block.

Would I be unreasonable after my appointment (which will last about an hour and a half) to leave my car there for an hour or so and walk to the shops?

I mentioned in passing (thinking absolutely nothing of it) to DH that I was going to do that and go to this nice baby boutique and he looked at me a bit and said I couldn't do that and it would be really cheeky!

Won't the person who you will have the appointment with have another one after you?

YABU I had an appointment today for my back at a place with a tiny car park and needed to nip to bank, but I moved my car so the next customer could use the car park at the clinic.

I would check with the person you ate having the appointment with.

It's a one off appointment, I'm providing the service for them at their home.

They're being nice to offer the visitor's space. To say "then I'll nip to the shops for another hour and a bit" is actually quite rude.

I work somewhere where we have a carpark for use for people on the premises. We charge about half the minimum charge at the local car park. We often have all the spaces filled and people needing to use them. A lot of the people we have using the premises are elderly or disabled.

You'd be astounded the number of people that think it's fine to come in for an hour and then they're entitled to "nip" into town or another hour. We regularly challenge people-and often it's not their first offense. But they don't seem to accept that them being there means someone else can't, and firstly that inconveniences the other people-and sometimes means they can't access us, and we're losing revenue.

You need to ask them, don't assume it won't be used.

Hmm I suppose so, I just figured as it's not a business address or business use car park - its residential and I'm 'visiting' one of the flats it wouldn't be that different from if I was visiting a friend and we popped out for lunch together in their car and left my car at their flat.

Happy to be told IABU, thank you all I will ask if it would be a problem at the end of the appointment and go from there.

I don't know if they have a car, I assumed as they told me to park in one of the visitor spaces that their allocated space/spaces will be being used.
I don't know if there's 1 or 10 visitor spaces there, I've not been before.

I love in a new build estate with resident spaces, on street parking and visitor parking.

TBH I don't really care who is in visitor spot or on street as long as they don't take 'my' numbered space!

I suspect my neighbours with 1 space, driveway for 1 car but who own 2/3 cars might!

But I think it's personal to experience in these situations if you'd care or not. I was leaving for work the other day and a company van was looking for a space - (doing some work in neighbours property). He looked most shocked and bemused when I said I'd be at work all day until 5 if he wanted to park on my spot. I actually thought he was going to ask me to confirm it was OK in writing
