Runny Honey Is Shit. Set Honey Is The Future!

AIBU in thinking runny honey is a bit rubbish. If you try to put it on anything it just buggers off and drips over your plate. Set honey just lays there and accepts it's fate. Runny honey might work on crumpets where it's imprisoned down the holes, but there are more spreadable surfaces in the world that are not crumpets than there are.

And if you get set honey and ever want runny honey you can just melt it.

Our neighbour has bee hives so often leaves us honey, I actually prefer the runny stuff for cooking as can just pour it into the bowl easy, but I'm totally with you on firm honey for spreading on things.

Set honey for me and, as we are in the uk, it must be from the uk. Expensive and not so easy to find. Easy to find honey from NZ, Rumania, Canada, general Europe etc

You need runny honey for drizzling on yogurt though!

Oh, I have opinions on peanut butter too. Smooth, because you don't get crunch that's actually crunchy - it's just smooth with crunchy bits added, rather than course ground. And that's cheating.

Totally agree on set honey. I'm going to add wild flower to that. Any honey that tastes too pungently of a particular flower is a disappointment (especially heather honey). By the way, does anyone struggle with the thought of it being bee sick?

Put honey in the fridge and it will set.

I do actually prefer it runny and I like it on porridge and yoghurt and things but I take your point about it buggering off when you are trying to eat it.

I once put my neck out trying to eat toast with honey because the honey dribbled off the toast and down my arm and I tried to lick it off my elbow but it was too early in the morning and I hadn't loosened up enough for that sort of shennanigans.

Maple syrup is far superior to honey.

Needs to be runny to drizzle over the weetabix and banana all over. Would crumble if DS tried to spread set honey.

I go for runny honey, because I only really cook with it and it's ideal for squeezing into the pan. Yes, I do buy cheap shit big-brand stuff in squeezy bottles, not artisan estate boutique honey or whatever.

I'm worse than that. I buy cheap shit in glass jars because I'm too cheap to pay extra for a squeezy bottle.

I grew up on honey (Dad was a beekeeper) set honey is by far the best - you can stand it in hot water to melt it of you want to runny it up.
Best way to have it is in the honey comb complete with bits of wax and the odd crunchy bee part

My Dad used to have a great dollop of honey in his coffee every day. Our house always smelt of honey - there were half completed bits of beehive and centifruges, hats with veils, and tubs of 'Honey that was going to be given back to the bees' all over the place.
