Motorbike parking stupidity!

Nc'd as don't want to out myself.

Someone has parked a motorbike INSIDE the communal area of a block of flats. To set scene, you open the communal door and there are stairs to the left, next to them there is a space about 6ft wide by 12ft long which is where the motorbike is parked. They have been asked to remove within 24hrs.

Who on earth does that?! Why would anyone think that is sensible. Is it not an outrageous fire hazard, there is only one exit and this is it! I don't even feel comfortable with it being there for that long (let alone a comment of "give them a week to move it"). I'm not being over the top thinking it needs to go asap am I? Would you want it there if it were your block? Common sense as they say, is clearly not common.

Private block? Council block? Carpeted floor?

TBH they are probably worried about it getting stolen

Badlyparkedbike · 19/01/2017 09:43

Council owned but not council managed. No carpet. Agreement/lease specifically states no motorbikes in communal areas due to fire risk, but yeah it's fine because outside it might get stolen? Really?

Nope, definitely wouldn't want it there if it was me - utterly stupid and dangerous. I'm sure they don't want it stolen, but that's not an excuse.

Hope it's moved soon OP.

YANBU. Total stupidity. You wouldn't store a jerry can of petrol there because it's obviously very dangerous, but some people are too thick to realise this is exactly the same thing, except the fuel tank is attached to a motorbike!

AveEldon · 19/01/2017 10:22

I didn't say it was fine
