to be bloody furious with dd's sn school bus
2shoes · 22/02/2007 16:06
they have just phoned to tell me that they are turning round and going back to the school as abus has broken down and needs jump starting. ffs that is what the RAC OR AA are for. Her journey is nearly an hour as it is .
I am so bloody angry I could scream
Kelly1978 · 22/02/2007 16:07
aww poor dd, I would definately complain to the company, it's not fair to make the kids sit on the bus extra time. I'm assuming they set off a while ago?

there have to be a serious number of health and safety infractions going on - worth investigating
2shoes · 22/02/2007 16:11
they leave school at 3.30 and he phoned at 4
I assume the kids will stay on the bus as they are all in wheelchairs

what would be the detrimental effects of your child being on a bus for one hour and (a half?)
2shoes · 22/02/2007 16:31
they have an escort
they are on the way now. I just always feel for her when the journey gets delayed as she must get so bored. not like she can read a book or something.
theheadgirl · 22/02/2007 16:38
Is it LEA transport? Kids on SN transport have to spend such a long time on the us as it is. My 6 yr old DD is first pick up,last dropped off She leaves home at 7.50 and some times is not back til 4.15pm. Thats a long day for a primary school child. Wouldn't it be an option for them to bring a replacement bus to transfer the kids on to complete their journey instead of them having to go back to school and start all over again. Hope she's ok with it all xx
2shoes · 22/02/2007 16:46
well she isn't back yet

she got home about 4.50 way later than normal.
she is fine. I didn't say much to the driver as he made a big thimg of saying he had made sure her doll came home(crafty sod)
princesscarrie · 23/02/2007 16:54
Yes I think you are being unreasonable. AA ansd RAC don't do coaches. Has your car ever broken down? Well once in a while coaches do too, get over it. Your DD will be fine, there's an escort and an extra 45 mins on the school bus won't hurt.
Sorry to rant...
coppertop · 23/02/2007 17:00
For some children with SN an extra 45 minutes on the bus is a big deal.
I'm not sure I understand why the bus had to go back to the school first though. If it wasn't in a fit state to drive children home then how could it be safe to drive back to the school?
2shoesisinvisible · 23/02/2007 17:08
it wasn't their bus that broke down it was another one. so the driver went back to get it started.
princesscarrie dd not only has cp she also has epilepsy. and it is a mini bus not a coach. and they do have AA cover but acccording to the driver it would have taken longer for the AA to get there.
coppertop · 23/02/2007 17:11
They had to go back to jump-start another bus? Yep, I'd be seriously p*ssed off.
tissy · 23/02/2007 17:12
maybe they wanted to take them somewhere it was safe to decant them all and load onto another bus?
2shoesisinvisible · 23/02/2007 17:12
no way did they take them off.
tissy · 23/02/2007 17:13
Oh, I see dd's bus was fine, it was another bus that wasn't . I would be cross, but then I suppose I would be crosser if I was a parent of a kid on the other bus....
lisadutton · 23/02/2007 17:15
Im sure they wouldnt put any children at risk, and i know its hard not to get mad, but if they had to jump start another bus, it was properly another bus load of kids too, have you thought about them?
Least she is home safe and well, and its not like its every week.
Did your child seem worried at all when he got home?
2shoesisinvisible · 23/02/2007 17:28
this was last night. was REALLY angry at the time(but did say to ds about how i would be glad if another bus had turned round if dd's bus broke down)
