To stay for the money?

Is it ever reasonable to stay with your partner even though you know they are just not a nice human being, for the sake of the money?
Particularly if you have several little children to support and no qualifications or work history as you have spent your whole life raising babies!
Also with a large amount of debt involved.
I don't think it is unreasonable. I think its horrible. But not unreasonable?

People stay in shit relationships for all sorts of reasons

if the alternative is poverty for yourself and children, it's easy to understand why

Plenty of people did it in the past.
My paternal grandmother would have been completely destitute with two young children if she had left my grandad. So she stayed. And was miserable for 60 years.
Horrible for her. My dad and uncle had no relationship with their father apart from the fact they lived in the same house and he put food on the table. But the alternative would have been worse for a single mother in the early 60's
