To be annoyed with neighbours?

DP and I live in a converted building comprised of 6 flags, we are flat 1 on the ground floor, people in the building keep themselves to themselves which is fine, we know a couple of the other building residents by sight.

No-one seems to put their flat number on any deliveries from parcels to take away food it's addressed to the building only which is annoying as everyone calls at our flat and then don't like taking no for an answer when we won't accept the food, we have numbered car park in spaces and he vast majority of the time when the car is there I'm in this could also be why they ring our bell.

I'm currently off sick and got out of hospital two days ago and I have tried ignoring the intercom however food delivery drivers especially keep ringing (5 minutes constantly last night until I could get out of bed to the intercom and then rang back once I'd said it was the wrong flat to ask whose it would be?)

AIBU to actually expect people to put their address on their orders? I appreciate I might just being a grumpy cow as I'm ill but its really starting to get on my nerves

No yanbu. That would annoy me hugely.

Send a memo round to the other flats asking them to specify their flat number when ordering.

Or take in the deliveries and bin them.

I'd definitely be annoyed! If they've paid then take the orders in and have a feast 😂

YANBU.

I lived in a block of flats, at no 57. The HA built two new houses out back - 57a and 57b. I regularly got mail and deliveries for both the other tenants. I even had both of them trying to change their fucking utilities in my address!

Well I have been tempted just to take the take always, they might learn that way!

A memo might be an idea, I did stick a note up on the front door a couple of months ago asking whoever had blocked my parking space with rubbish to move it as I wasn't able to get into my parking space and get my mobility aids out however nothing happened and when DP got back after a few days he sorted it for me.

No one put the bins out until I did a list and stuck it next to the front door so people knew which bin it was which week- I probably sound awful about this and controlling but I got sick of us being the only bin that ever got put out so no one had any bin space

id be sending a note to all the other flats saying that the next time any paid for food deliveries you will be assuming they are gifts for you and eating them and that all parcels will be refused

That is really annoying. Ignore the intercom if you aren't expecting a delivery or visitors or if you're off sick can you unplug it. If people are coming round they could ring your mobile when they arrive.
I would also speak to other residents of the flats.
I had a similar problem with deliveries here - I work from home and I would end up with the delivery people bringing stuff to me for all 7 flats because no one else was in and also because no one put their flat numbers on the addresses! I spoke to the delivery people as it was always the same ones and said I wasn't taking any more stuff in and after that I ignored them ringing the bell until they got the message.

Can't unplug the intercom sadly wish we could! I wonder if I can leave it off the hook as it's driving me crazy.

Don't blame you for spaghettithrower not taking in parcels anymore how hard is it to put your own flat number on a bloody parcel!

I had that, but the neighbours were giving MY flat number because they disabled their door bell and we had all bad mobile phone signal. Angry

I got an electrician to stop my electric door bell (was cheaper than putting a switch on it), and I replaced it with a wireless one (could be unplugged when I wanted).

My kids were being awaken by the door bell, so it was impossible to ignore it.

I'd send a note - they wont stop doing it if they don't realise it's a problem ... and they won't realise it's a problem if they don't get told.

Dear neighbours,

Please can you ensure that you put your full address, including flat number, when you order something because currently the delivery drivers/couriers are bringing everything to my door.

This is very disruptive and annoying as it is happening with increasing frequency, even more so as I am currently recouperating from an illness and my recovery is being interrupted multiple times a day to deal with other people's deliveries.

From now on, if any delivery is attempted to my flat due to incomplete address information I will be instructing any couriers that I have no such orders and they will have to take them back.

I wish that I did not have to take such drastic action but I cannot continue to be disrupted so frequently and I hope that by bringing this to your attention it can be fixed easily enough.

Thanks melj1213 Flowers for that letter, after a further two deliveries this morning I'm going to send that to the flats tonight as I'm totally fed up now given they woke me up on both occasions
