To ask if any of you got married in this Ian Stuart dress

...and if so, if anyone would consider selling to me?

It's an Ian Stuart 'Basilica', from 2012. I am a terrible bride and didn't realise you had to order a dress months in advance. I am in love with this dress but can't find it anywhere. I will pay good money for it if anyone is willing to sell! Probably need a size 14 or above though might squeeze into a 12 if I go on a diet.

Really sorry if I've annoyed anyone with the unorthodox use of this forum - it's just I'm really desperate for this dress. Thanks everyone

Sarah x

I WOULD have got married in that dress. If only I was a size 12. And if only someone had asked me to get married.

I'm not helping much am I Grin

Beautiful dress though.

No help here but what a beautiful dress!

gabsdot · 07/01/2017 11:14

It's amazing. I hope you get it.

ferriswheel · 07/01/2017 11:14

I think the dress is beautiful. I so hope you get it.

I too was a rubbish bride and am getting divorced. I'm very impressed with your mum initiative.

girlelephant · 07/01/2017 11:15

It's beautiful. Have you tried Pre-loved? Also wedding forums? I was on the Scottish Wedding Directory forum and there was a specific section dedicated to selling wedding dresses and accessories.

Just trying to think of ways to connect with more people to increase your chances!

ferriswheel · 07/01/2017 11:15

Initiative not mum initiative

This isn't any help at all, but I got married in an Ian Stuart dress and I still get it down from the loft occasionally and put it on.

He makes the most amazing dresses and the one you want is beautiful. I hope you find it!

CondensedMilkSarnies · 07/01/2017 11:25

Do you know if it will suit you though? (Before you fork out loads of money)

I looked at loads of beautiful dresses but lots of them just didn't suit me even though they looked stunning .

Good luck and hope you have a fabulous wedding day X

MrsLyons · 07/01/2017 11:26

Can you take the picture to a local (good!!) dressmaker and see if they can make something very similar??

HighDataUsage · 07/01/2017 11:29

Repost in mumsnet style and beauty board to increase your chances of finding this dress.

Also have a look on the oxfam wedding dress directory aswell as preloved.

kel12345 · 07/01/2017 11:29

I was going to suggest looking back online as well. Or could you bit contact the manufacturers directly, and ask if they know where you could get one from? Maybe they could check if anyone of their stockists still have a sample? Just an idea.

Nonagoninfinity · 07/01/2017 11:36

I agree that you could try style and beauty or maybe there is a Facebook / wedding related forum somewhere?

Perhaps you could borrow rather than buy? I got married in a size 12 Ian Stuart dress but unfortunately not that one. Perhaps if you find one someone might be happier to loan rather than saying goodbye to it forever?

Good luck - what a fabulous dress!!!!

FortyFacedFuckers · 07/01/2017 11:41

Good luck op it is an absolutely gorgeous dress.

If I ever get round to getting married it is an old Ian stuart dress I will be looking for.

DailyFail1 · 07/01/2017 11:44

You should try it on in the shop first. 14 fits like a 12.

MaudOnceMore · 07/01/2017 11:47

I'd second the local dressmaker suggestion. They could follow that style with the fabric you choose plus any little touches of your own.

mrsmadiba · 07/01/2017 11:50

Thanks so much for all the advice and good wishes, it's really kind. Yes if anyone has one to borrow that'd be ace too! It is good to know they come up small, there's no way I'll get in a 12 then! I've been scouring all the 2nd hand websites though haven't tried all the forums yet - I'll look at the Scottish one so thanks. Someone had one for sale on Youandyourwedding a year ago so I have messaged her but think she has left the site :( ! I think if none of this works then I will go and try some samples on in the shop, but they did say most of the samples are in 8-10. Or I could try and find a dressmaker.

Found it on an American sale site, you'd probably have to pay extra for shipping www.oncewed.com/used-wedding-dresses/ian-stuarts-basilica/

It says 'street size 14' but think an American 14 is bigger than ours, still better too big and can be altered.

mrsmadiba · 07/01/2017 11:52

I do like the dressmaker idea. If anyone has a personal rec for someone in London or Herts I would be very grateful!

Thanks so much for looking Abecedario! I can't get hold of her though as the listing is expired! I even emailed the site owner who wrote me a very kind email saying there was nothing she could do - I'm kicking myself for not looking sooner.
