Milk spots - driving me mad!

So this is my first post on here I'm a first time mummy so not sure if I am being silly.

My little lady is 3 weeks old (4weeks on Saturday) she unfortunately picked up infantigo in hospital when she was born but thankfully that has all cleared up with treatment.

She has now got a very bad case of milk spots (baby acne) she had a couple pop up and I thought as a precaution to take her to see GP. He has prescribed her Dermol which has made the rash 100x worse!! I feel so sorry for her she looks so sore. The thing is this particular doctor didn't know what the infantigo was and was acting like it was some new medical mystery it was only when I took her back to see another doctor that it was diagnosed correctly.

I have posted a pic of what it looks like now is this normal or should I take her back in?

As a first time mummy, I was horrified when my ds came out in this. I took him round to my mum, cousin and neighbour and all said it was fine an normal. It cleared up in a few weeks. There seem to be pustuals and I would recommend calling your dr and asking (if your hv isnt available) as I cant remember what they said about those but I was warned about them.

I think the Infantigo is probably impetigo, which hopefully has been sorted by the cream you were given.
In my experience baby acne is better left alone and it should settle in a week or so as all the hormones settle down. She's still utterly gorgeous! Congratulations

Awwe she's lovely! Don't use any cream on her, just gently clean and dry. Like pp said, it will clear up

My DD was excatly the same. Unless your baby is in obvious pain or discomfort from the spots they're best left alone. They will clear up by themselves in a few weeks,

Mine had it for ages, it was so bad, all over his face, neck, arms, back and chest! He looks perfect now and I was told not to touch it.

DD1 (now 16) had baby acne in her first few weeks, I was mortified. Had never heard of or seen it before. I was almost scared about taking her out for fear of people peering into the pram and getting the shock of their lives at the beastie staring back at them
It was such a long time ago so have no advice to give, just to reassure it didn't last and her skin soon reverted to 'soft as a babies bum'.

Just leave her skin alone, it will clear up.

DS1 was just like this, As long as the impetigo is completely cleared up, just leave her skin alone. It will clear up by itself, honestly. Just keep her clean, that's all that's needed.

My now 5 month old DS2 had baby acne around the same age. I would honestly say leave it. In my experience it was far better to put no cream on and let it go of its own accord. When it cleared, DS2's skin was quite rough and I found Johnsons Naturals intense moisture cream to be the best with no irritation.

DS had baby acne. He got some right corkers pop up and as a dedicated sporner I'd have been itching to have a go at them had they been on anyone else. I just left them though, didn't change how I washed him or anything and they just eventually went away.

His skin is gorgeous now.

My DD (3 weeks) has the same thing. It's going now. I just cleaned her face gently with water.

Awww how cute is she, bless her . My ds now nearly 5 had them for about a month when he was born. I used to put Sudocreme on them. Try to keep the areas dry and clean.

My dd2 had the worst baby acne. She looked so bad someone looked in the pram and said "what's wrong with your baby?!"

It cleared up in a couple of weeks and since then her skin has been pretty much blemish free.

Thanks so much everyone you have really put my mind at ease :) i think it tends to go down when I just wash it with warm water and a cotton pad but used the cream as that's what was given by Dr but like I said it's really made it flare up just for comparison this is what it looked like before I took her to Dr you can see the difference. Will defiantly stick to warm water and let it go on its own

Yeah some of mine had it. Don't worry it doesn't take long to go, just leave it alone. Your DD is still a beaut

Mine had this, went on for ages, turned out to be cows milk allergy combined with an allergy to our detergent (she had it on her face from leaning on our clothed chests). I cut out dairy from my diet and changed the washing powder and it went away

Are you breastfeeding? Both my babies had baby acne and it would flair up after a feed - apparently it was because of the hormones in my milk.

No ideas on what to do about it, and others have already answered, but wanted to say what a beautiful baby.

Thank you all for your really helpful comments just had a call back from the good doctor she has said that I should try some coconut oil or olive oil just in case it's a reaction she is having to the cream I haven't put any cream on since last night and it's already looking better!! Really grateful for all of your time and thanks for the help xx

Yes my little one was exactly like this! I cleaned with cool boiled water and cotton wool and then used some Weleda calendula baby cream on his and it went quite quickly. Only to be replaced by cradle crap that started between his eyebrows and eventually moved up his forehead until it was hidden by his hair at about 4 months. He then got eczema and a big scab on his face where he wouldn't stop scratching - he was one crusty baby! BUT at about 6 months it all cleared up and he now has the most gorgeous skin.

Another vote for weleda calendula cream if you have a baby with sensitive skin. I've been using it on ds (6 weeks on Monday) after bathing (although not on his face/hands) and the nappy cream on his bum and its brilliant.

(He had baby acne at about a week or so old, it all popped up over the space of an evening, then he frightened the living daylights out of me by being sick! I phoned 111 bawling my eyes out amd got sent to the OOH doctor)

No advice. Just SQWEEEE. What a lovely baby.

I'm a nanny and if I was your nanny I would take her back it'll set your mind at ease.

With a newborn it's never wrong to take em in. If you have a good GP
