About Christmas cards?

If you send a Christmas card to a family do you write all of their names (including children's), that is of course if you know all the names?

I can't help but feel a bit annoyed at receiving cards from a few close friends that start with "igotnotime & family "
They know all of our names how hard is it to write them?! It's only 4 if us not 25.
Then they sign the card with all their family member's names.
Why?
Am i bu by feeling annoyed and thinking it's a bit rude? Or is it actually ok and polite to do that?

Always write all names. Bloody rude not to!

I generally agree but I do write it myself very occasionally if I'm not 100% sure of the children's names.

I don't where there are more than two children as we send loads of cards and it would take forever. Never consisted it could be seen as rude! Most of those families sign their cards from "x, y + family" though.

Sometimes I can't remember all the names of my cousins' dc there's just so many of them. What a pathetic thing to even notice, let alone get annoyed by.

I'm absolutely certain they do know my children's names, and there are just 2 of them not 8 not 12 not a 100

I really would not be bothered at all if it was a colleague or an acquaintance but when it's a close friend it bothers me

You are completely over-thinking this.

Your children do not give a shit if they get a christmas card off of one of your friends, so your friend has absolutely no reason to put their names in it.

Actually my 4 year old wanted me to read the card to him and when I said it was for the whole family he was trying to find his name on it.
He is very into learning letters etc at the moment.
Obviously there was no hurt feelings on his part but it made me think why didn't they write all of the names down

Because card writing is a pita. That's why many people, me included, don't bother at all. Waste of paper.

Two of our cards this year were to me, dh, dd1,dd2 + twins haha. I would rather they had just put me, dh and family than show us that they obviously can't remember the names of the youngest two. I did however find it funny rather than take offence. It was nice they took the time to think of us at all and their relationship is with me and/or dh primarily so I don't think you should feel upset.

Okay, you're right, your friend clearly hates your 4 year old:
Are they jealous?
Do they not like children?

Not sure what the best course of action is, maybe do a collage of sad faced photographs of your 4 year old son. Captioned with "My name is Bob, don't forget me next year" in glitter writing and send it to them?
