Made homemade tomato salsa: three big tomatoes, a red onion, a couple of garlic cloves, chilli, coriander etc. Is it bad to eat it alongside a lot of doritos and an avocado for dinner?

It would be balanced with a big pile of cheese I think Grin

PickAChew · 31/12/2016 16:52

Sounds like standard NYE grub.

Gymnopedies · 31/12/2016 16:52

Not bad, sounds very yummy.

Joolsy · 31/12/2016 16:52

It sounds gorgeous but I would want alot more than that for dinner

Milanisabadman · 31/12/2016 16:53

Sounds all right to me.

Lilaclily · 31/12/2016 16:53

Sounds lovely

Does anyone know if supermarkets are open tomorrow?

KimSpears · 31/12/2016 16:53

Ok, not dinner then - light snack! Having takeaway for dinner Grin

Sounds nice, but that's not a meal, it's a snack........ sorry!

haveacupoftea · 31/12/2016 16:55

Very nice after dinner snack. Needs cheese though.

ohthelidcameafftheroses · 31/12/2016 17:02

Ill come to yours if its blue doritos. I can eat a shedload of those. Home made salsa. Im too lazy but it sounds fab Xmas Smile

MaureenMLove · 31/12/2016 17:08

I've made almost the same today! Except, my salsa has basil instead of coriander. Inspired idea of mine to serve my 4 friends fondue for NYE!

I've used up all the cheese, roasted the rest of the potatoes that we wouldn't get through for ages. Cubed the rest of the Xmas ham, grilled the 'posh' bread which is stale but perfectly fine with a bit of olive oil and balsamic on and made some sausage meat balls with the sausage meat that DH forgot to put in the turkey! Grin

Giddyaunt18 · 31/12/2016 17:12

I often eat avocado and salad for dinner, of course it's ok! Better than a takeaway!

ShowMePotatoSalad · 31/12/2016 17:17

Yep, as a light snack that sounds fine. Wouldn't be enough for me for a main meal. I'd faint.

PurpleDaisies · 31/12/2016 17:19

It sounds lovely but I'd be starving.

PurpleDaisies · 31/12/2016 17:19

Just realised you said you're having take away-that sounds fab. I'm envious...

mummydawn07 · 31/12/2016 17:21

I would happily pig out on that for dinner add some cheese, soured cream and maybe some jalapenos, jazz up the avocado a bit with some lime juice, coriander... mmm mouth is starting to water just thinking about it lol

ShowMePotatoSalad · 31/12/2016 17:23

Roll it up in a tortilla wrap with some chicken, sour cream, jalapenos and cheese and you've got yourself a winner! (So long as I can eat 3 tortilla wraps at the very least).

WeirdButTrue · 31/12/2016 17:27

Your garlic to tomato ratio scares me but the overall salsa/avocado/Doritos combo is more than acceptable - but do add cheese as per other comments. Stick in microwave & await nacho heaven. Might have the same myself, thanks for the inspiration Xmas Grin

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 31/12/2016 17:38

Can you possibly explain to me why you felt the need to post a thread asking if it was ok to eat a perfectly ordinary snack before ordering a takeaway?

I'm baffled.

I don't feel I can go into 2017 worrying about how seriously reliant people have become on asking such weird questions.

Wolpertinger · 31/12/2016 17:41

If you ate enough Doritos it could class as dinner Wink

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 31/12/2016 17:45

It is around here! Cheese, sour cream, dinner done.

MouseholeCat · 31/12/2016 17:51

This was one of my student meals- piles of melted cheese on it too, and made guacamole with lime, chilli and garlic. If I had leftover chilli con carne I'd top it with that too.

DH likes 3 cloves of garlic and a whole onion in his salsa... that's for about 400g tomatoes Shock

Dammit- we're making NYE sushi but now I want nachos!

KimSpears · 31/12/2016 17:56

Have made guac with lime, garlic, baby toms, cumin etc.! SO nice!! I'm having a glass of red and will order takeaway soon - I'm hoping the vegetables make it a health food? Wink

OP posts:
BreakfastAtStephanies · 31/12/2016 18:06

Yeah totally a health food.

Plus you're getting your antioxidants in the glass of red, so - win, win.

MrsMozart · 31/12/2016 18:17

Sounds good! We're having takeaway.
