I'm tempted to start batch cooking a roast dinner every Sunday so I have leftovers for the week 2 days

Yanbu not at all.

I never understand how people have so many leftovers! We don't. No more than a usual Sunday roast anyway...a few roast potatoes and a bit of meat.

What do people even mean by "Leftovers"? Are we talking about piles of crusty stuffing and some dried up parsnips?

What's so great about that!?

bowchikkawowwow · 27/12/2016 20:14

User leftovers are the best! You can make sandwiches, bubble and squeak, soup etc.

We always cook a lot more than we'll need just so we have leftoversSmile

User- leftover turkey- a wealth of opportunities not least of which turkey, cranberry and Brie sandwiches

Leftover veg- hash/bubble and squeak/pasties!

Op- yanbu. I too just finished my last bit of turkey (in a mushroom, ham and turkey pie) it's a sad day :,(

user1477282676 · 27/12/2016 20:19

But do people cook too much? I can't imagine making soup out of roast veg!

People tend to cook, say, a turkey, usernumberperson. A turkey can be too much for a few people at one sitting.

Also, many people cook specifically to create extra food for the holidays.

Randytortoise · 27/12/2016 20:47

I always make sure I cook enough for leftovers. we have had turkey, stuffing and cranberry baguettes , bubble and squeak and I have just frozen loads of curry.

Scottishchick39 · 27/12/2016 20:47

I had turkey, cranberry sauce and Brie sandwich last night, it was lush! Tonight we had the remainder of the roast potatoes with sausages. Chocolate cake is still going strong!

TrippyMcTrapFace · 27/12/2016 20:48

BathshebaSnowflakeStone · 27/12/2016 20:51

We had our leftovers for supper on Boxing day. They were very nice but we still have all the chocolates and Heston mince pies left.

bowchikkawowwow · 27/12/2016 20:52

I discovered the joy of not only dipping left over pigs in blankets (specifically overcooked and stashed away!) and sprouts into bread sauce, but that it is also amazing to dip in picnic eggs too
