Someone has just posted on my local site - selling GHDs for £100 as they're an 'unwanted Christmas present' bet the giver is so pleased about that

Selling fakes as "unwanted gifts" I'd imagine.

I've just seen the same on a post near me - someone was double gifted the same eye make up palette and is selling one of them. Shocking!

I don't see the issue at all? What else are you supposed to do with unwanted stuff? I've got something i plan to sell as its dupe

It's the hastiness that's shocked me jdoe their sprouts will have barely digested and they're flogging their presents!

Slapping stuff on a FB selling site where the giver may see it a few hours after you've opened it is not.

a lot of stuff ends up in charity shops, why not make some money in ebay ? ok hours after unwrapping might be a bit off but when is the right time ??

In France, this has been going for a few years now.
From Christmas Day onwards, eBay, FB and the likes are full of people selling 'unwanted presents'.

The reasons given are

• it's not exactely what I wanted
• if I sell that, I will be able to treat myself and after all the effort gone into Christmas I deserve it
• where is the issue, its mine?

It has been going on for a while anyway. It just wasn't as obvious.

There's nothing wrong with that as long as the person who gifted it doesn't find out from looking on their Facebook. Saying unwanted gift in the description is just honest and understandable for the buyer as it's a legitimate reason why they'd be selling a new item for a lower price. That's totally normal and good.

So for nearly full price you could have a second hand unwanted present

I don't see the problem, at least the givers money won't be wasted as the recipient will get a bit of cash to buy something they want.

But. A lot of people think all FB are group members only and don't realise that others can see their posts. Much safer to ebay so long as your rellies don't know your username

The OP point is that the gift has beenn given the same day as its been listed in the most public way possible and not very subtly with the whole "unwanted" ness.

I know that sometimes people try to raise cash by buying on credit and selling the goods on ebay etc as "unwanted gifts". It is sad that people are forced to try to pay for Christmas that way.

My unwanted stuff goes straight into the regifting cupboard. Its full!

it would be better to agree not to buy presents in the first place then this doesn't happen

Nobody has any idea why it is unwanted or what has gone on between the giver and receiver. Perhaps they got two and giver said "sell it and get yourself something else with the money" nobody knows other people's circumstances. Mind your own and let everyone else mind theirs. What an odd thing to get your knickers in a twist about.

a lot of sites ban "business sellers" so if you're selling brandnew stuff you need a tagline as to why
