about birth announcement pictures?

Am I missing some new trend about these or have I just always had it wrong?When a couple posts a picture announcing their baby has arrived isn't the picture usually of the baby?

I was sent one of someone I haven't seen or been in touch with in years and it is the Mother posing in lingerie with false eyelashes, nails, extentions, angled to show her jewellery,but not the baby. You can see the tiniest hint of the side of the babys head under a blanket at her side but that's all.It seems a bit 'look I can be sexy after birth' but I don't know. Fair enough if you want to look your best but I just don't know why it seems off. You can't even reply/comment on how lovely the baby is as you can't see them.
Is it just me?

PS- I know before anyone says it, I would love to look that good after giving birth, no argument! But for a birth announcement?

I imagine just for the photo, was her on the bed. Okay it's not just me then! Obviously not going to sat anything about it or comment but just needed to have an anonymous 'what?!'. Thanks!

No photo of Dad yet! She isn't a friend really, more someone I used to see around years ago. I'm just a bit in case she thinks it'll be easy to keep up or that the nails and nappies will work together.

Nails and nappy can work together. Why couldn't they?

Tbh I have never seen this so can't comment. However if she like to water lashes etc before she had a baby, why would that change now?

It's up to her how she dresses and what she posts herself.

It does seem odd to post a birth announcement without a picture of the baby!

The usual seems to be proud/exhausted mum cradling the baby. And/or the baby in its little fishbowl.

That's a determined lady right there, I've still not got round to getting my own 'vanity' routines back in place and limpet DD is a year old!

Can't imagine a friend sending me a pic of them in their lingerie with or without a baby.
