Planes being boats

My 6 year old DS was playing with Lego before. He made a areoplane that changed into a boat if it crashed into water.

AIBU to think this is a very good idea and why can't they do this in RL? Grin

Amphibious planes, they already have them!

Flying boats were a perfectly mainstream option once. A flying boat is a type of seaplane that lands on its hull.

Flying boats were the biggest type of seaplanes, they went out of fashion once bigger airports started to be built, that had runways long enough for larger planes.

Umm do you remember the plane that landed on the River Hudson in New York about 8 years ago? It's currently a film "Sully" (after the captain)

Seaplanes? Lots of them around but they're not 747 sized.

Itisnoteasybeingdifferent · 23/12/2016 23:04

Too right,..,
The Spruce Goose made a 747 look tiny... Really tiny...

PBY Catalina, Short Sunderland to name a few
