Sugar free and lite products

I hate them and never buy them. DH is always accidentally buying them because they look very similar to the real thing and he doesn't read the bloody labels Really looking forward to a nice G and T and the tonic is aspartame- filled diet tonic Sad. Surely tonic water is fat-free enough?! AIBU TO LTB?

Fat free but not sugar free, and surprisingly calorific! I guess it depends on how you feel about sugar vs. artificial substitutes.

Sugar is sugar - bad for you but relatively natural at least.
'Diet' products are basically full of toxic shit and chemicals!

ChickyDuck · 23/12/2016 18:27

I would add that being concerned about "chemicals" in general is rather silly (although of course you may choose to avoid specific ones which may pose certain risks). If not you would have to worry about your morning glass of dihydrogen oxide, the ethanoic acid you use to dress your salad, and the sodium chloride you use for seasoning.

In your husband's defence, it's an easy mistake to make.

Manufacturers need to make their labels clearer.

SUGAR-FREE in big bold lettering, please.

I'm not against chemicals which would be ridiculous but I don't like aspartame and I can taste mono sodium glutamate- which he also bought by mistake!

LTB and replace his beers with alcohol free ones

HerBluebiro · 23/12/2016 18:38

I quite like the fever tree naturally light tonic water. But it looks very similar to their Mediterranean tonic water (no quinine). So sometimes but the wrong one - more sugar and no bitterness. It is just wrong

allegretto · 23/12/2016 18:45

Ontheup- he doesn't really drink so maybe I should just slip him some alcohol!

@allegretto maybe pretend to spike him. Wink

Topseyt · 23/12/2016 19:20

I just don't like diet and lite products, so never buy them.

allegretto · 23/12/2016 20:05

Neither do I Topseyt!
