To think our launderette should know what will and wont fit in there own machines?

Our 6 week old was sick on our Super King Size Duvet and we took it to be washed and dried at our local launderette, when we went to collect it today they had burnt the duvet in there tumble drier, they offered to re-wash it but said they couldnt garuntee that it wouldnt burn again on drying, they blamed the size of the duvet.

As the very reason we took it to them to wash is that we can't dry it, there offering to wash it again is a tad redundant, they wanted to charge us £17 for covering our very new duvet in burn marks I refused to pay as if it was too big for there dryer they should have just told us they couldnt wash it.

Surely they should know what there machines can cope with?

Do you think if I take it somewhere else the burn marks will wash out or do you think it is ruined?

It is Goose down feathers and was expensive to buy and is only a few months old, do I have a case for asking the launderette for money, they where very defensive and very rude when we tried to talk to them and find out what had happened.

I didnt even know a tumble dryer could burn things...

if its burn it may be ruined.

do they advertise that they wash superking size?

if they do, then i think you have a claim.

The dont advertise that they wash anything...

Have always washed things myself in the past, but didnt have time to stand and wait for a duvet that large to dry unless I fed the baby in the launderette which I didn't fancy and thought it was worth the extra money to have it done by them....
