I feel terrible but possibly better than i did yesterday.

Been at job 6 months full time and apporox a year pt/as and when.

During this time ive only had one afternoon sick when i was sent home with uti.

I doubt we'll be busy but i know another staff member potentially off sick tomorrow.

My weekend has been written off and i e got loads to do before xmas. right now its bed/sofa so am thinking if i drag myself in tomorrow it may well finish me off and leave me incapable for the manuc pre Christmas rush. I wouldn't feel able to work just now.

Sinusy head hold with very week legs/nausea but not flu i don't think.

Do i call in sick and get a days pay or try and go in and risk losing an afternoon wages if i have to get sent home.

If you're actually sick then call in, definitely

If you wake up tomorrow and feel able to work, then go to work.

If you don't, then don't.

I don't think context should influence your decision, it's pretty black and white.

You get sick pay if you have the day off but not if you have half a day off (i.e. get sent home sick)? Sounds bonkers! As PP said, it should be based on how you feel in the morning.

Agree with pp. What you have left to do before Christmas shouldn't be a deciding factor.

However your Christmas to do list has nothing to do with it.

If you're not well, you're better off at home. I had exactly what you describe and took a day in bed last week. I've got long Christmas holidays (work at a university) but hell, I needed it. And it made all the difference. You need to rest in that early, sore stage, then if you feel human but snottery on Tues you can go back in.

ben thats always the dilemma isn't it. i am one of aline of us to go down with this. I usually drag myself in if sick and one of the bosses goes mad if we do that. But then he isn't the one having to pick up the flack if someone is off.

Whilst i agree that context, and indeed my Christmas to do list is irrelevant. It sort of is in a way. We wont be busy as Christmas is an unbusy time for us (usually, we can go from scratching around for something to do to manic busy at the drop of a hat) so i reckon i won't be missed, im not rota'd onto something that would make too much impact if i wasn't there as the other person will easily cover it. So the impact of my being off will be less than usual.

I have a reputation for needing to be hit by a truck before i go sick wheras other staff members will get a sniffle and call in sick.

I will see how i feel in the morning.

Call in sick if you don't feel well, also remember that you might infect others if you are ill and spoil their Christmas breaks.

Well, if you lose pay for being sent home, if in the morning you don't think you'll make it through the day, then go sick. Your employer seems to have a daft policy - it encourages people not to come in!

Well i didn't go in. I still feel decidedly ropey and now dd has gone down with it so decision made.
