To want DH to Skype in a different room

Because home is a private place! I don't want to say hi to his family members and friends when I'm in my lounge clothes or PJs with hair a mess and no make-up.

I don't want to be in view when I'm cooking/cleaning/trying to relax with a cup of tea. He thinks I'm BVU.

He skypes on the tablet and walks around while he's talking. Downstairs is mainly open plan. He has an office he could Skype from.

AIBU? Honest opinions please!

I don't mind when my DH does it.

Yup, drives me nuts. DH does the same. Half of Russia has seen me in my PJs or worse.

My dp knows I hate this so makes sure I'm not in the shot! It's not hard...

YANBU at all. You should be able to relax in comfort in your own home without feeling on display to people. I hate being caught in the background of Skype conversations I'm not involved in but my kids are considerate about that.

I Skype my parents while following our toddler around bit I'm careful to avoid getting DP in the shot when she's slobbing out on the couch in pj's because she wouldn't do that if they were actually in the house visiting.

I can see that as being annoying. Is the camera pointed to his face? If yes, how do the ILs see you? If he is telling him you're there and putting you on camera to say hello, then HIBVU, especially as you've told him you don't like it.

It really annoys me when my DH does this but at least he sits still. This meaning I can usually stay out of range of the camera. Until he asks if they want to say 'Hi' to me. Grrrrr!!!!!!

Yanbu. Fucks me right off when dh does. He wanders around the room taking at eight hundred and twenty twelve decibels too.

Yanbu. Some people don't mind but you do and you've told him so he needs to have some consideration for your feelings.

I'd absolutely hate it! My house could be a tip apart from anything else. If I'm sitting around in PJs or comfies, I do not want other people intruding on that, intentionally or otherwise.

I accidentally answered a FaceTime call yesterday without looking properly beyond who was calling. Friend and her family got a right eyeful as I was topless breastfeeding on the bed. Was pretty mortified but only had myself to blame.

My MIL does this a lot when talking to my BIL (her PFB) who lives abroad. She will start the call in another room then walk around with the tablet "looking for Reception" & then suddenly she's right there, thrusting the tablet at me & saying "oh GoneGirl, stop that and have a chat to BIL". I wouldn't mind if she would just give me a warning before she made the call so I could prepare myself ("prepare myself" = not be midway through scrubbing the bath or trying to get through to GP surgery on my own phone). Or if my BIL seemed to give a shit about talking to me, we're civil but not at all close, and during his visits to my home he seems happy to pretty much ignore me. Why he'd want to chat to me on Skype when I'm cleaning the bathroom is anyone's guess!
