We had two engineers out earlier. I didn't realise they had driven separately. One was parked outside our house and the other one, unbeknownst to me, had parked on next door's drive.

Our neighbour was round within ten minutes to very crossly tell first Dd then me (as I came to the door) that they mustn't use her drive and that I must make sure it never happens again.

The way the houses are laid out is a bit funny, they have a double width/double length drive in front of a double garage with two doors (so it just looks like two garages). Our house wall is the boundary of their drive, although the garage is further back so not attached.

As you turn into the close it's not immediately obvious that our garage and drive is further down. Engineer #2 had mistakenly pulled into NDN's driveway.

We have never had anything but pleasant dealings with our neighbours, although very much on a nod and wave basis. I was taken aback at how cross she was.

I'm pretty mortified tbh. The engineers were here for about fifteen minutes in total. It's not something I can imagine being bothered by, much less cross about.

I have apologised, but I'm wondering if I need to do more, flowers or something. She was so stern and angry!

It's a very 'naice' close of houses and I've never pissed off the neighbours before.

Nah you don't need to do anything else. You didn't park there, you didn't ask them to park there, none of it is your fault.

People get funny about driveways. Meh, just move on and forget it.

HardLightHologram · 14/12/2016 17:55

I will just forget it then, thanks. I was a bit wrong footed, I hate confrontation and didn't know what to say really.

You don't need to buy someone flowers because an engineer mistakenly parked on their drive for 15 minutes. That's being a doormat.

HardLightHologram · 14/12/2016 18:02

I do have doormat tendencies tbf. I have BPD and find it hard to judge situations.

Just forget about it. It matters not.
