to expect my brother to be on time?

My brother is chronically unpunctual - always has been. Yesterday it was my ds's birthday party at our local gym club/soft play thingy and his two children (7 and 11) came. He was 20 minutes late bringing them, then didn't turn up at 4.30 to pick them up. When everybody else had gone, I was just about to ring him when he rang - at 4.40 - to say he was just leaving a town about 20 minutes drive away. I sent the children back in to play for a while and waited and he arrived at 4.55. I am still fuming - particularly because he didn't ring BEFORE he was late so that I could tell the children not to get their shoes and things on but after.

This is an absolue pet hate of mine...unfortuantely dp comes from a family who are never on time, I have learnt to add at least half an hour to any time they say they will arrive/have dinner on the table whatever...

I always tell MIL half an hour before actual time.

It's my mum in our family. It's feckin annoying and rude to assume your time is less important than theirs

JodieG1 · 18/02/2007 07:44

I cannot stand it when people are late, really annoys me.

NotQuiteCockney · 18/02/2007 08:43

I have at least one friend like this. I just lie about times, and accept it. It's rubbish, granted, but they're not actually doing it to piss you off ...

katelyle · 18/02/2007 08:47

I lie about times for lunch and things like that, but I can't really do a special pary invitation for his children with a different time on it, can I? Or can I? The thing that really p*ed me off was that he phoned when he was late already, not when he knew he was going to be.
