To ask how long it takes to wear off?!

Been to the dentist this morning and had to have a filling which involved a local anaesthetic - this was 4 hours ago and I still can't feel a thing!

Does anyone know how long it takes roughly to get the feeling back? Driving me up the wall now, plus I'm hungry and can't eat/taste anything! Argh!

I had a filling last week. It wore off completely in about 4 or 5 hours, was definitely fine after 6 as I was going out & didn't want to be dribbling everywhere.

I had a banana smoothie to keep me going (through a straw).

It takes a while. Keep moving your mouth, say the vowel sounds etc, this helps it wear off faster.

I had a reaction once and it took 3 days. Told dentist and they use a different anaesthetic now for me. The whole side of my face drooped as if I had Bell's Palsy.

They were very reassuring and nice though and checked I was ok s fee days later and they told me about using the different one in future and my notes are clearly marked so do keep an eye on it.
