To go to bed

onmybroomstick · 09/12/2016 19:30

Small house worky things need to be done nothing major. Kids are in bed. I'm shattered. It's Friday night though, shouldn't I be staying up drinking wine or something, celebrating surviving another week of school runs and tantrums??

Ooooh no. Go and have a nice hot shower, put some pjs on and get in to bed and watch a box set.

That's what I'm just about to do. ER is my choice of watching!

SandysMam · 09/12/2016 19:40

Do a 10 minute tidy up then go to bed. Amazing what you can do in ten minutes and you will feel so much better in the morning!

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/12/2016 19:43

This is late for me, I'm usually in bed by 7 most nights now.
I just can't stay awake, and I get bored and fed up.

LizTaylorsFabulousTurban · 09/12/2016 20:52

Are you me OP? I have a pile of ironing to do and the kitchen to clean, but am knackered. Cup of tea and bed for me too. Rock and roll!

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 09/12/2016 21:04

I'm babysitting otherwise I'd be in bed, I'm being paid to stay up though and do christmas cards and watch twilight on tv

3luckystars · 09/12/2016 21:09

Dont drink tea before bed. I never paid too much heed to people saying this but honestly, its a mistake. You might get to sleep but then you wake up again shortly afterwards. Dont touch any caffeine it really REALLY affects sleep.

I go to bed early every night. I love bed. Its better than any reason for staying up. Every year my husband asks what i want for my birthday, its a day in bed and probably always will be. Go!

LizTaylorsFabulousTurban · 09/12/2016 21:25

We only have caffeine free tea so safe for bedtime. (Took me three months to notice when I first started seeing my DP).

3luckystars · 09/12/2016 21:35

I drink a lot of tea and i cant tell the difference between normal tea and de caf. Everyone else says they can taste it but i really cant.

onmybroomstick · 09/12/2016 22:26

Oh I sleep horrendously. I'm always waking up. Is it really the tea doing this to me

Yes it is really and truly! Cut it out and see.

I found amazing camomile tea, if you could stomach one of those instead before bed, I know not everyone likes herbal teas, but it actually knocks you out cold like an anesthetic . Would you try it? It's just daisys but omg it really works!

3luckystars · 09/12/2016 23:01

Here it is here, I hope the link works:

Charley50 · 09/12/2016 23:12

I can't drink tea after 5pm.

Gillybean76 · 09/12/2016 23:41

I wish I'd gone to bed about 2 hours ago. Instead, here I am. Curse you, Mumsnet!😜😜😜

mortificado · 09/12/2016 23:47

On my 2nd bottle of wine WineBlush

eggyface · 10/12/2016 08:29

charley glad to hear someone else say that, I can't drink coffee after about 2pm as it genuinely keeps me up til midnight. I've been told many times that can't possibly be the case as the caffeine would have left my system, but it genuinely is! I've even done blind trials asking DH to give me decaf instead without me knowing and it always is the same!

Qwertie · 10/12/2016 08:42

I can't drink tea after 8pm not because of the caffeine, but because I'd have to get up for a wee. The last drink is getting earlier & earlier, there is no way I'm going to do something I know is going to break my sleep. DH doesn't care; he's crazy!!
