To wear slippers in the office?

I work in the public sector, back office, open plan. Smart/casual. I do see clients but would obviously not wear slippers for that!

31wks pregnant, suffering all manner of discomfort. By this time of the day my feet hurt. Shoes appear to shrink as the day goes on. I spend much of my non client facing time sitting at my desk, walking to the printer.

You need to check with your work health and safety policy. At mine you can't wear slippers flip flops or open back sandals in case of an evacuation (work in a high rise). Could you wear trainers?

I wore black crocs which worked well towards the end of my pregnancy and was a half way house between slippers and real shoes.

Slippers are fine, as long as they fit with general 'smart' work clothing. Like these ones

Some people have worn cross when not pregnant, but I don't have any.

We have no rules about sandles, flip flops etc.

Those would do the trick dierdre! They'd go well with my maternity dresses.

I don't have shoes on half the time, so slippers would probably be a step up for me. Or if you don't want to wear slippers, would some ugg-type boots be a good compromise?

Crocs or fake crocs are cheap, comfortable, solid enough to go outside in if theres a fire alarm. Good for mucking about with kids on beaches etc so you should be able to get use out of them in future - get some!Grin

It's boiling in the office mostly so nothing to heat/sweat inducing. I think I'll have a look around for something subtle.....

I've canvassed opinion in the office. Slippers are better than shoulders altogether, but some folk don't approve.
