I feel like an utter gobshite. Confused
What on earth do they get out of it?

'Twas ever thus...

myoriginal3 · 08/12/2016 13:20

MRA after MRA after MRA.

HaveNoSocks · 08/12/2016 13:32

I think it's that the people who are most bitter and unpleasant (in particular the MRAs) are also the ones with the most time on their hands.

RTKangaSANTAMummy · 08/12/2016 13:34

MRA = what please?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 08/12/2016 13:39

Men's Rights Activists. We've had a rash of trolls on the feminist boards. Some are female. We get quite a few who pop up, scream how horrible we are to men/transwomen and then vanish.

I blame the long winter evenings.

crashdoll · 08/12/2016 13:40

There's a big world out there on the internet, so much to read and learn. Why waste your time trolling a parenting website?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 08/12/2016 13:40

Sorry, my post was for you, RTKanga.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 08/12/2016 13:42

Because, crashdoll, this site is largely populated by women, and a lot of internet trolls absolutely hate women.

ArmySal · 08/12/2016 13:46

I can bear-ly bear-lieve one is still going strong. WTF Confused

JellyBelli · 08/12/2016 13:47

YANBU, aren't they tedious.

SausageD0g · 08/12/2016 13:53

I got mildly exited this was going to be about trolls merchandise... One of my kids is obsessed!!

RTKangaSANTAMummy · 08/12/2016 20:09

Thank you for explaining PRAWN

myoriginal3 · 08/12/2016 20:29

It's like they are trying to undermine the authenticity of the site.
They normally don't bother me, but now I have gotten to the point where I tend to not believe a thing!

At the risk of being deleted was the nanny missing with the child this morning a troll? I saw the first few posts and rolled my eyes and next time I logged on it seemed to have gone poof. Fucking annoying at the moment, it is like having to pick your way through the dog poo on the school run.

LineyReborn · 08/12/2016 20:37

It's like they are trying to undermine the authenticity of the site.

I've thought to be true for a while.

I reported an odd thing to MNHQ today on two separate threads involving behaviour from one specific poster, and the response I got was 'sorry if you're upset'.

No, I'm not upset, I'm trying to help you, MN, retain some credibility and authenticity.

If the business model precludes authenticity, then fair enough I suppose. At least we're learning that.

myoriginal3 · 08/12/2016 20:58

Yes. The missing nanny was a troll.
The incessant how can I get more sex threads appear to me to be trolls but I don't know anymore!

LineyReborn · 08/12/2016 21:05

A few years ago they were fishing for quotes they put in an ad, out of context, that ran in the media including the Independent.

myoriginal3 · 08/12/2016 21:07

They seem a strange bunch tbh.

OP posts:
BolivarAtasco · 08/12/2016 21:09

People have this weird reaction to MN. They are simultaneously frightened, disgusted, intrigued and contemptuous that there is a forum where women talk about stuff.
