To think of not bothering again

So on Saturday we were having an Xmas party that we had to cancel due to people pulling out and low numbers. Yesterday i was due to meet a friend for dinner but she bailed as her dd isnt well which is fair enough. Ive also booked a meal for Friday ages ago and out of 6 only 2 of us are going. I know its the time of year but ffs

Can't help an ill child

But it's annoying either way when everything planned has to be cancelled

I feel for you! It's definitely the time of year when people succumb to bugs and get ill, so - as you say - sometimes these things just happen. But I do think that people are flaky. There's a pretty general attitude of "do what I feel like on the spur of the moment", which is also fine as long as you aren't actually letting other people down....

It does make you feel like not bothering but think you just have to suck it up and put it down to time of year, lots of sickness and germs etc. It is very disappointing though especially as the organiser when all your plans come to nothing so I would say YANBU to be fed up but YABU to give up on friends.
