This is more of a rant than aibu !
Got up this morning to a kitchen that looks like we have been burgled ! There is literally food, dirty pots and rubbish left all over the sides and the floor is covered in crushed rice crispies. My dd(22) and some of her friends stayed last night and were obviously very hungry when they came in. Normally she is fantastic at helping out round the house, so I know that this isn't typical and that she probably meant to tidy up after they had eaten but I'm quite angry that I've had to get up to this mess!
The thing is, these are a group of really great, thoughtful girls that had actually been decorating one of the girl's grandmas flat to get it ready for when she comes out of hospital ( had a fall and broke her hip) and so that it is lovely for Christmas for her. I appreciate their kindness to others but can't help wanting to go and drag them all out of bed and hand them bin bags and bleach for breakfast, or perhaps serve them the rest of the apple crumble, half a tin of custard, chocolate cake, fresh cream ( not so fresh now that it's been left out all night) or the spaghetti bolognese that has been reheated and then left to congeal in the pan on the stove !
Bloody kids !!!

Deep breath

Leave everything exactly how it is

They'll most likely be mortified when they get up

originalmavis · 07/12/2016 08:31

Take a photo. Good evidence for future ribbing!

They sound like a nice crowd. Probably exhausted after working on the flat (what a lovely thing to do).

My kitchen usually looks like the ikea ad in the mornings (where the monkeys take over the kitchen).

Bluntness100 · 07/12/2016 08:31

Ach, if it's a one off and they are doing something nice, I'd tidy it then just have a word with my daughter quietly later, she'll prob be very apologetic.

BakeOffBiscuits · 07/12/2016 08:32

I agree with Space just leave it.

They all sound lovely people so assume it's a one off but leave it for them to sort out.

Notwavingimdrowning · 07/12/2016 08:55

Thanks everyone ! I've calmed down and donned rubber gloves ! They really are a lovely bunch of girls, so will clean it and wake them up with bacon sandwiches and a smile on my face, but will have a word later so we don't have a repeat performance tonight, after another day of hard work for them :)

Leave a pizza delivery number and a black bin bag on the table for them tonight!

ChasedByBees · 07/12/2016 09:02

You're nicer than I am. I would have woken them up.

Wookiecookies · 07/12/2016 09:02

Your first mistake OP, is to refer to them as "bloody kids". They are adults at 22, its totally not ok to treat your home in that way, regardless of how lovely they normally are. You are not student halls and were kind enough to let them stay. Get them the hell up and make them sort it!

Good luck! Wink

livefornaps · 07/12/2016 09:03

I wouldn't even mention it. Your daughter's usually great, so are her friends, they're all doing a nice thing. These things happen. I'm sure when she gets up she'll feel bad enough if you've cleaned the place and probably come straight to you!

Wookiecookies · 07/12/2016 09:04

Hang on, you are making them Bacon sarnies? Have you lost it? Get them up and get them to make you a bloody bacon sarnie by way of apology!

NotStoppedAllDay · 07/12/2016 09:07

I don't understand the references to rubber gloves and bleach.....it's just a bit of general mess! From a few hours ago

Bit dramatic

Notwavingimdrowning · 07/12/2016 09:21

Wookie ... Bloody kids is really just a figure of speech ! They're definitely not treated as kids.
Notstoppedallday ... Little bit more than general mess tbh and I always wear rubber gloves as I have psoriasis on my hands :)
Will talk to them all when I take them breakfast ...bit of pa guilt tripping !
