To never want to visit a dentist again!

Long story (sorry!) but I had a filling in a tooth a few years back, got an infection, had root canal and crown, traumatised me, crown fell out, and couldn't face going back so I left it.
Fast forward a couple of month and yes I know neglected the tooth but I wanted it out I was sick of fillings by this point so finally plucked up the courage to go to the dentist and they agreed it needed to be pulled, great an end to it!
Except no,, the tooth broke whilst extracting and the dentist couldn't get the remaining root out (bottom tooth second to last)
I had to make another appointment for 4 days later for another dentist to cut my gum to take the root out.... I experienced 4 days of no sleep and endless pain I honestly can say it was worse than childbirth.
I've since been back and had the last root taken out and my gum stitched up and was still in pain for a couple of days later.
Now it's healing and I'm not in pain anymore but I'm terrified of going back there, I don't ever want to step foot in that place again!
Has anybody else got any dental nightmares?

Years ago I had root canal treatment on bottom front tooth. Had gum numbed but because the tooth was infected, I felt agonising pain from every single rod she shoved down the canals of the tooth. Never felt pain like it. After my gum was stitched I couldn't smile or talk for a week either. That was tricky. The tooth is still troublesome but I prefer to put up with its flare-ups than ever go back!

The more scared you are of the dentist the more frequently you should go. That way problems can be sorted before they become massive.
