The plasterer is coming tomorrow morn . I'm dreading it
Ive had to completely gut my bedroom for him to do the walls and ceiling
Then he starts on the hallway , landing and stairs
Aibu to book into a Travelodge and leave the DP and children here ... DP Dosent mind the work being carried out and it won't afffect the children as they'll be at school

YWNBU. I fucking hate workmen and mess in the house.

Shrugs123 · 04/12/2016 19:26

For how many nights?

Vanillamanilla1 · 04/12/2016 19:28

Until TUESDAY . That way I can hide in the finished bedroom whilst he cracks on with the rest of the house

But it'll affect everyone overnight, surely - the children won't be in school then! YWNBU to decamp all day every day, but YWBU to sleep somewhere else. Good workmen will leave it tidy overnight anyway.

I feel your pain..I've a thread atm about my nightmare builder who gas filled our house with mess and dust for three weeks. He's coming back tomorrow to sand down all the terrible plasterwork they bodged on Friday. I'm just so fed up of the mess.
Just tape up doorways, cover everything and hope for the best.

this being vu on the rest of the family, they can't up sticks and move out, seems a bit selfish of you tbh, this is a pain but it won't last very long, i'm with dh, would be a waste of money unless you have medical reasons and need to move out.

littlesallyracket · 04/12/2016 23:34

YANBU to want to move into the Travelodge, but YABU for thinking it's OK for just you to move out and the rest of the family have to deal with everything. Either you all move out or none of you, I'd say. I would totally want to stay in the Travelodge as well, but I wouldn't dream of just leaving everyone else to it.
