Ok,ill keep it brief...
Broke my little toe two weeks ago,tbh it hasn't been very painful but is definitely broken and very bruised as well as bruising on my foot.

It is my leaving party at work tonight and I had a lovely outfit that would look terrible in flats. Aibu to wear heels for a few hours?

I think that would be utterly bonkers. Let your poor toe heal. You'll be with your toe the rest if your life. The party will last one evening.

Oh dear, I never go out really so wanted to make a real effort! I understand your thinking though!

How would you feel about never being able to wear heels again if you do irreversible damage to your toe by wearing heels while it is still healing?

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 03/12/2016 09:56

I wouldn't, apart from being painful it might cause further damage and cause the fracture to heal strangely.

FortyFacedFuckers · 03/12/2016 10:00

Probably not the best advice but I wore high heels with a broken toe for my sisters hen night, my toe was absolute agony even in flats. I actually cried putting the heels on but I managed and the pain wore off slightly after numerous wines & vodkas

mommy2ash · 03/12/2016 10:05

Are you sure it's broken. I broke a toe years ago and no way could I have put heels on between the pain and swelling. It still hurts now and then even after healing.

harderandharder2breathe · 03/12/2016 10:06

No yanbu if you prioritise your looks over your future ability to walk

On the other hand to do that yabu

Having broken the same little toe 3 times Blush I can confirm it depends where you break it as to whether it hurts or not.

I'd suggest you don't wear heels, it certainly won't help your toe.

Have any of your friends got nice flat shoes you could borrow?

ispentitwithyou1 · 03/12/2016 10:28

Thanks for replies, I can honestly say that it definitely hardly hurts at all despite definitely being broken! I had an xray. That's interesting about pain bring dependant on where the break is.

It was 2 years ago so the toe feels fine but it is so much more fatter than the same toe on the other foot as if the swelling never went away.

crazyspaniellady · 04/12/2016 22:29

I broke my toe a month & a bit before I was due to be a bridesmaid at a family wedding and the "comfortable heels" I'd bought for it were absolute agony to wear, so I definitely wouldn't recommend wearing heels this soon after a break, it's highly likely you'll cause more damage as PPs have said, You'll end up just taking your shoes off 2 minutes after you arrive so it's really not worth it. Try a pair of pointed flats instead? I find they work well with dresses/outfits that look better with heels, Next do a good selection of pointed flats, as do Zara Smile

SixtiesChildOfWildBlueSkies · 04/12/2016 22:33

Wearing heels causes your weight to be thrown further forward down the foot to the toes. Don't do it. A few hours of vanity heels paid for by a possible lifetime of pain/difficulty with mobility , just isn't worth it!

I was a competitive ballroom dancer and won my best competition with three broken toes in high heels.
I have sufferers zero issues or problems since a couple of decades later (although they ache when it rains!)
So... Yes, I'd wear high heels with a broken toe. And I did with three.
I'd maybe take a pair of flats with you though just in case.

I wear really nice flats all the time. You can get some gorgeous polished ones ones from Dune. If you like splurging then I can vouch for any of these chanel ones - they are gorgeous.
