Mr queen is out on his work Xmas do

As he is a bloody idiot he forgot to take a key.

He told me he'd be back by midnight. I can deal with that. Not back, not ever left yet, over an hour away on public transport assuming he doesn't miss it...

AIBU to go to bed and let him sort himself out for somewhere to sleep tonight Angry

Its his Xmas night out so being out late etc is expected but I do have a pet peeve for people saying they'll be at X at X time and then not turning up.

To be fair he's probably pissed so that's why he's late.

Can you leave your key under the bin or somewhere safe tonight and text him where it is so he can get in?

lastqueenofscotland · 02/12/2016 00:23

I do not live in an area id feel comfortable leaving a key outside...

The time is a non issue its a forgetting the key and expecting me to stay up for him when I need to be up at 7

I'm presuming you can't leave a door/window unlocked for him?
I could leave a front or back door unlocked for dp if I knew he didn't have a key otherwise (and I speak from bitter experience), I ran the risk of being woken up by the sound of stones being thrown against the bedroom window - in a vair romantic fashion of course Grin until I realise they're rebounding off my car in the drive Angry

Second floor flat! So no!

Slightly ropey area of south east London so not happy leaving a key under a bin

What was the agreement when he went out without a key? Why does he not have a key? How often does this happen?
These are all important factors in deciding how U you are being! Although I have to be up at 6 and am still not in bed, and I still need to have a shower and wash my hair, and realise I need less sleep than others! And will have 3dc to get up and ready in the morning... *yawn...

7SunshineSeven7 · 02/12/2016 00:28

To be fair so do I.

How about you get a key, put it on a string and blue tac the other end so the string is hanging down infront of the letterbox. That why he can reach his fingers through the letterbox and grab the string to pull the key though. I think you have less to worry about someone getting it then (people don't tend to check for that).

CakeNinja · 02/12/2016 00:28

Ahh, I can see how leaving a door unlocked may be tricky in that case Grin

CakeNinja · 02/12/2016 00:29

Can he make it through the main flat block door at least?

lastqueenofscotland · 02/12/2016 00:32

Cake he forgot his key- which did include the key to the block...

Rang me while out at 10 saying he just realised he didn't have it and was going to come home in an hour and would be back for midnight...

I'd message him and ask him if he's on his way and if not would he mind getting a hotel as you're knackered and want to head to bed... just say you don't want him to cut his night short as you have to work but struggling to stay awake for him. If he's in his way I'd have a quick kip and set an alarm for when he's due back

Thegirlonthebus · 02/12/2016 00:36

On his way not in his way!

Biffsboys · 02/12/2016 00:38

I'd just go to bed and get up when he rattles the door ?

CakeNinja · 02/12/2016 00:38

What a Wally! I'd phone him and tell him to stay out/crash with a friend in that case. Or else just open the door In a sleepy haze when he eventually turns up!

lastqueenofscotland · 02/12/2016 00:40

Cake I've said I'm going to sleep, I'll likely be awake at one but he's going to have to figure out what to do next... Apparently some bloke from accounts has a sofa he can sleep on...

Thank you wise women of mumsnet.

Phone him now and tell him to crash on that persons sofa!
And then get yourself to sleep :)
