To have been beeped and shouted aggressively at?

Went shopping to a retail village this morning, extremely busy (car park and over flow car park full and people starting to park on the road side.)

I drove around the car park and saw a couple leaving. I did notice another car indicating pulled into a lane and I assumed they were leaving as well.

I zipped into the space and then I heard a long beep and I turned around and the woman driving was shouting, something along the lines of "what the fuck do you think you're doing".

I hadn't realised they were waiting and I did move ... but how aggressive she was I think was unreasonable

Along the lines of, or exactly that?

Bit of a difference you see, and you had nabbed the space she was waiting for.

honeysucklejasmine · 27/11/2016 14:47

I'd be pretty narked at you too. Ypu say she was indicating. I don't really understand what else you thought she might be doing.

WLF46 · 27/11/2016 14:51

She was pissed off at you for "stealing" her space, her reaction was perfectly reasonable.

You need to be more aware of what other drivers are intending to do, not just in a busy car park but on the road too. Failing to anticipate another driver correctly just leads to a bit of verbal abuse in a car park, but could lead to fatal consequences for you and your family if you display the same lack of understanding while driving at speed.

Be careful and take this as a warning about your driving behaviour.

O.p I work in retail well I did I've just finished for m.l Grin and people are cunts this time of year.

SillyMoomin · 27/11/2016 14:59

Why would they be indicating near the space if they weren't waiting for it? Confused

Sorry op, I think YWBU

Candlelight123 · 27/11/2016 16:14

It sounds like you stole the space she was waiting for. Yes, I'd be pissed off with you for that.

Caprianna · 27/11/2016 16:27

YANBU. Everyone makes the occasional error in traffic and its unbeliaveble how aggressive and quick to swear people are. It really depresses me. It would have been nothing wrong with saying excuse me you took my place and you moved anyway when you realised your mistake. There is no reason for behaving like you are in the Jeremy Kyle show all the time, but this aggressive shouty behaviour is now very normalised. I am not from Britain and I think its a British thing. People are so incredibly stressed and short- fused.

Aeroflotgirl · 27/11/2016 16:29

Yanbu, you obviously took the space that she was waiting for, but why cod she not have wound down her window, and said, excuse me I was waiting for that space, could you move please. Mistakes can happen, mabey op was not quite on the mark.

ByeByeLilSebastian · 27/11/2016 16:31

Yanbu, it serves her right for not being as fast as you.

SirChenjin · 27/11/2016 16:34

Did she actually say "what the fuck do you think you're doing"?

Tempers are frayed at this time of year and if you've driven round and round a car park only for someone to pinch a space you've been sitting waiting for (with your indicators on) it can bring out the worst in people. She probably didn't mean to be so aggressive, you didn't mean to nick her space Smile

eurochick · 27/11/2016 16:36

I would have sworn at you too!

Whatthefreakinwhatnow · 27/11/2016 16:39

Eeeek stealing someone's space after they've been waiting for it really isn't on OP no wonder she was pissed at you!

HeyOverHere · 28/11/2016 00:45

I really can't tell if you're saying she was already there, or if she arrived after you did.

If she was already there and signaling, YABU. You stole a space she was obviously waiting for, and even if it wasn't obvious, she was there first, you give her a chance to pull in first.

If she came after you, YANBU. Just because you see a space doesn't make it yours.
