Trump makes Boris look sensible, reasonable and completely sane.

Farage won't be ambassador, as - except under Labour (Peter Jay, the then PM's son-in-law) - Britain doesn't make political appointments, preferring instead career diplomats.

Though I suppose it can theoretically happen.

Every morning now I wake up and hear something on the radio that just a few months ago I would have assumed was a trailer for a comedy programme or some kind of dystopian sci fi drama set in the near future. But now it turns out they are news items. What an extraordinary year 2016 has turned out to be.

This morning's gem was hearing that Trump has tweeted that he would like Farage to be the UK Ambassador to the US. Surely this can't happen? The trouble is I didn't believe the UK would vote to leave the EU or the US would elect Trump and Pence. Now I think almost anything could happen.

Maybe May could make him a special envoy to Trumpland.
He'd live sequestered in a special house in Washington state and only allowed out for walks with his minders.
