Sorry, posting for traffic really!

Have an IKEA delivery arranged but have a docs appointment on the day and can't rearrange. Does anyone know what happens if you miss them? Will they leave it elsewhere or take it back? Thank you!

Would you get charged another delivery fee?

Ldnmum2015 · 21/11/2016 16:49

Try calling them, you usually get a text day before anyway.

BarbaraofSeville · 21/11/2016 16:53

Can you get the Ikea stuff deliverered on a different day?

Ikea contract out their deliveries to small companies. If you can contact them and ask if they can change the time slightly, especially if you won't be out for the whole slot?

Or see what it says in your T&Cs about missed deliveries where it is your fault - you could be liable to pay the full delivery fee again or possibly storage/restocking charges.

is the delivery time the exact same time as your dr's appointment?

Stillunexpected · 21/11/2016 16:54

If it's IKEA, it's presumably large and heavy so where would they leave it?! It's hardly going to fit on the door step? Have you not called them to rearrage the delivery?

SandysMam · 21/11/2016 17:58

Thanks for the replies, was just wondering if anyone had been in the same position. Will call them, just find it easier to ask here than sit in an IKEA queue Grin

I had an IKEA delivery the other day and the person before me had been out.

It was a total pain as the van had been packed with my stuff behind his. They had to basically rearrange the whole lorry and were not very pleased about it.

They usually ring you half an hour before they arrive and they specify a shorter window.

I would definitely re-arrange or at least change the time.

Either that or re-arrange the docs appointment!

SandysMam · 22/11/2016 06:47

Thank you Miss Wimpy, that was the kind of info I was looking for! Will rearrange the delivery as the appointment is an important consultants one. Thank you!x

Ikea used to send a message the day before with a smaller window (ie 10-1) and on the day I got a message saying they would arrive at 11.24 and they pretty much did Shock

eurochick · 22/11/2016 07:55

They texted me two days before delivery with a four hour slot and then called when they were an hour away.

MidniteScribbler · 22/11/2016 08:00

Do you have a friend or neighbour who could sit at your house while you are out?

londonrach · 22/11/2016 08:06

I had a text 30 mins before. Very efficient guys delivering and put everything where i wanted whilst i signed.id rearrange or get a neighbour in.

5minutestobed · 22/11/2016 08:09

It will be different for everyone as they use different companies. It should tell you on your paperwork what will happen. I was phoned on the day and given a one hour time slot.

Ilovewillow · 22/11/2016 08:13

I had a large delivery from them recently and they sent a text the day before giving a smaller slot! I would wait to get this and if if falls at the DR's appointment time then contact to rearrange!

SandysMam · 22/11/2016 08:39

Thanks everyone, no have no one to sit unfortunately, I have contacted them to see if they can change the date or deliver in the morning if possible but at least they know now!
Thanks all!
