To wonder what the going rate is for babysitting

I've never paid a babysitter but will be soon. Mainly evening (when dc's are in bed) but occasionally during the day. It's for ad hoc sitting and the sitter is an adult. Can people advise on a fair hourly rate please?

I used to charge £8 an hour £10 after midnight when I did at university. Was never in short supply of work!

National Minimum Wage as a minimum. Anything over that depends on the experience of the babysitter.

Yes I would say minimum wage for an adult, unless they are a childcare professional in which case they will quote you their price.
