Shoes have worn away

Stuart Weizmann boots I've had for a year have worn a tiny whole so the lining is visible on the side of my shoes where you would get a bunion I have worn them every day almost but why wouldn't you when shoes cost 500+ Russel and Bromley have said that that can't repair it so now I have shoes I can't. Wear with out the hole getting bigger am I being unreasonable to think that you wouldn't expect a hole on a decent pair of shoes I've already had one pair be returned at the very beginning for something minor so don't want to seem unreasonable hole is size of a pencil rubber was smaller when i noticed but was at work so couldn't take them off

It sounds like they don't fit you properly (feet too wide) so the suede has worn through.

Could they be fixed by a cobbler? In my experience most uber-expensive shoes can.

If you've worn the every day for a year I'd say they've done well!

Id agree that if you've worm them every day then they've served their purpose. You need to buy new shoes.

Well I didn't wear them in summer and every other day more like I don't have wide feet have measured if anything I need a half size smaller

Still, you've had them a year and worn them very frequently.

The cost of items is not an indicator of longevity. A lot of the time you're paying for the branding.

They're not magic slippers. BTW have you heard of those fairytale wine goblets that never run dry? They're excellent value for money

£500 for one year's worth of shoe wearing? And it's the side of the shoe not the sole that's worn through? Something's not right there. I would expect the uppers of a good pair of shoes to last more than a year. Have you contacted the manufacturer?

The fact that they're expensive doesn't make them immune to wear and tear.

You say a "decent pair of shoes" shouldn't get a hole in them, but it depends on how rough you've been with them, how often you've worn them, the terrain, your gait... I could go on.

Again, if they have worn through where you would get a bunion, they don't fit you properly. The ball of your foot is too wide, so it's either rubbed through the lining at the joint, or your foot is wider than the sole so a bit of the upper material has rubbed on the floor. This is supported by the fact that the hole got bigger over the course of the day you noticed it. I've worked in footwear for 10 years so I'm not making this up!

Just to add, you don't need wide feet for them to be too narrow, especially if they're pointed toes. They're also really soft suede if you're talking about the OTK boots I think you might be.

Yes. Feet sweat. Sweat is very corrosive. When you wear the same pair of shoes as frequently as you do OP you're not giving them a chance to dry and the leather is going to rot.

Yes they should wear out that easily if you wear them 5 days a week (i assùme) for a year. Just because they're expensive and well made doesn't mean they're indestructible.

Was going to say, even if you have worn them every other day of the year for avg 12 hours a day, I would say they have done well.

As PP said, with most things, cost is not an indicator of quality anymore.

So we've gone from wearing them every day, to wearing them every other day, to not wearing them in the summer, to a month into wearing!

I said almost every day it would work out like that on average and I do feel like I have but obviously I didn't wear knee high boots during summer when it was really hot
And what I meant by the month thing was that I had worn them all last winter then had time off during summer wore them again this October and come November a hole had formed

Buy doc martens next time - they last nearly forever!
