.....is one of the most repulsive of the many repulsive things the media say about women/girls?

YANBU at all. The sexual undertones are barely beneath the surface.

MycatsaPirate · 07/11/2016 08:53

A bit more context would help.

It's grim.

Like those countdowns when a "hot" young celeb comes of age. As if a woman can rightfully take her place in the world now she's old enough to be a man's sexual plaything.

And they say we've come so far...

BertrandRussell · 07/11/2016 09:09

It's always being used in the tabloids. This morning The Sun used it about Tiffany from East Enders who was a child actor and has now produced a "sexy" pop video. She's 15.

Really? Someone said it about my 6 year old recently but fairly sure they weren't checking out his package.

Very different to mention it in your context or with "undertones barely beneath the surface" to a tabloid couunt down.

HermioneJeanGranger · 07/11/2016 09:46

It's down to context, isn't it?

I saw lots of posts on Facebook of children starting school in September with the caption "X is all grown up!". Which is fine and very different to dodgy tabloid headlines.
