To never take my dc to school again because...

So picking my dc up today he was messing about while I tried to strap him in so I got into the seat next to him, shut the door so as to give all the other parents room to get passed and strapped him in, turn to get out of the car and guess what

The chuffing bloody stupid shitting child lock is on isn't it!! I'm stuck in the back of my own car with every parent in chrisingdom walking past with their kids!

I attempted to climb through the gap, something I haven't done since I was about 10 and didn't have the rather impressive behind I have now, cultivated over the years with Ben and Jerrys and crisps!

I tried ever conceivable limb first in an attempt to squeeze through with no success, all the time I'm sure I had a crowd of 50 people watching, and quite possibly was making the car shake somewhat with the exertion!

This escape attempt was interrupted randomly with my DC asking what I was doing and can we just go now?!

How did I escape you ask? Firstly I rang my sister who lives close, she didn't answer, so I did the only thing I could in the situation, I waited til nearly all the parents had gone, targeted one straggler I had not seen before, knocked on the window when they got close and just did a pathetic help me face while pointing at the door handle and mouthing 'can you open my door please'

So I can never take my child to that school again can I?!

Why not open window and open handle?

Or get slim child to get in the front and turn the key, enabling electric windows.

I also had the window locks on which I had put on days earlier due to DC discovering his button and opening it constantly!

I had the keys but they child lock was on so they didn't help!!

That confirms it, I'll elope tomorrow!!

I would have sent a child into the front. Or wound the window down as pp said. Or simply reached into the front around the driver seat and opened it.

I am sure all these suggestions will be very useful for next time

why didn't you turn off the child lock from the front?

Missed a whole church wedding for the same reason. DD needed feeding so I sat in the back of the car to bf. Child lock was on and didn't want to risk laddering tights by climbing forward or waking sleeping baby in the process. I waved at a few random passers by outside but they just sort of smiled like I was mad and walked on. DH let me out at the end thinking it was very funny, hadn't been at all concerned that I wasn't in the church.

Oh god. I've done this in a shopping centre car park. Had to ask a bemused man stranger to help. And I had no shoes on somehow!

YABU. Not taking him to school won't guarantee you never see any of the witnesses again. You probably need to emigrate. And change your identity just in case.

Why did nobody question you trying to escape out of your car window and check to see if you needed assistance?

That's so funny! Why didn't you get your child to go through to front and open drivers door and then go out and open passenger door for you? Depends on the kind of kid you have though I suppose. Some might run off and leave you stranded

You can never ever show your face near the school. I suggest a full facial plastic surgery.

Some cars with central locking have brilliant feature...when you hold down the unlock button on the key/remote the windows open, hold down the lock button and they close!! Fab in summer to let the heat out while you pack the boot and strap in the kids.....or to open windows to escape child locks!!

This is so funny, it's awful when the embarrassment hits you, not as funny as you eloping unless you have someone in mind? and you have more to tell........
