To think enough is enough, time to have a re-vote on brexit

I'm still having problems sleeping with brexit, sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night thinking it was just a nightmare. But its real and with each day it gets worse.

Now the banks are saying they will leave the UK, as we are 80% services and the banks are a very significant part of this it will be catastrophic for the UK economy.

Most of the people i know that voted to brexit now regret their decision so why not have another vote on it?

So next time a political vote goes against your wishes we should have a re-vote? That's the death of what is left of democracy.

Why not have a vote on it? Because that's not how it works. You guys(a part of you) wanted immigrants out, mostly. They are going out. And taking their services with them.

Cameron couldn't have been clearer that the outcome would be binding.

A lot of people who said they wouldn't vote Brexit did. A lot of people who are saying they wouldn't do it again probably would.

So you are not happy with Brexit, which I understand completely. But this was a democratic decision. Next election, the results may be close to 51% - 49%. If enough people whine and demonstrate for their losing party, should they get a re-do? This is not the playground anymore, not everybody is a winner. Learn to live with the consequences, and past the scare mongering.
I work in a bank, and let me tell you the truth: they complain and threathen, but have already accepted the results, and made provision for it. They are mostly posturing to get better corporate taxes and fundings.

And then re-vote that re-vote because the losing side protest and then re-vote that re-vote because the losing side protest...and can you see a pattern forming here?

I think there shouldn't have been a referendum in the first place, given nobody knew the actual cost of going ahead with it. There were so many things to factor in that nobody in power had considered. It was a complete shambles.

It's not democracy if people vote for a lie.

So we continue to vote until you get the answer you like?

IIRC didn't the Danes keep holding referendums until they'd reached the 'desired' decision?

People do not care that this country is becoming uglier and uglier every day. That hatred and division is being actively stoked by our disgusting tabloid press and worse still, our bloody government.

They'll shrug off the banks leaving ( evil banks) until interest rates rocket, austerity starts biting them and people are losing their homes. Although saying that, most won't care about that as their Brexit means Brexit rhetoric is more important than the well being of their fellow humans.

I don't agree with a new referendum but I do strongly believe parliament needs to vote on what Brexit means.

If we waited for the electorate to have perfect knowledge (which no one has), we'd never have an election, or make any decision whatsoever. All decisions and elections are based on judgement.

We live in a democracy and people have spoken. You can't just do a re-vote every time you get an outcome you don't like.

No one that I know that voted out regrets it. They weighed up the consequences, knew it would be rocky but went for it anyway.

I accept the result regardless.

Even in a democracy you're allowed to oppose policies. Just because we voted 'out' (I didn't) doesn't mean we just roll over and accept whatever decisions the government makes. We are ALLOWED to show we don't agree with aspects, even those who voted out might find themselves disagreeing with some of the decisions being made in their name.

You don't have to just blindly accept it. How many people truly voted for extra-austerity, a recession and increased hate crime?!

Well, we were told lots of lies so I suppose we could demand a 're vote on the back of that. I doubt that would ever happen though.

I think another ref when the deal is worked out and we know what we're voting for would be reasonable.

Many people voted Lib dem in 2010, not knowing that their vote would create a government that introduced tuition fees, austerity budgets etc.
It was unfair but legal.

I feel the eu referendum was much more straightforward. A clear majority vote to leave. I do not see how we could have another referendum.

The only justification I can see for a second referendum is in 2 years time when the terms of exiting and signing a new deal are clear. There could be referendum over these, with the alternative of not exiting at all if the deals are rejected. Two years would have been wasted and the economy would be in disarray with all the uncertainty and but at least democracy would have been respected.

We need a re-vote. I know of people who regret their vote because they didn't know what it meant. It can't be binding as the leave campaign was based on lies. We need a no lies re-vote.
