Leaving your DS 2 years old overnight..

My DS is 2 years old and I still haven't left him overnight with anyone! Even if we go and visit the DGP's we are with him all the time. They've looked after him for a few hours whilst we've done the weekly food shop and stuff but never overnight. I'm just not comfortable leaving him with anyone overnight. He's not a clingy boy so I'm sure he would be fine. He goes to nursery 5 days a week and has no problems when I drop him off. Is that weird that I haven't left him overnight with anyone? My brother is the same with his kids. Am I weird?

I didn't leave DS' with anyone overnight until he went on his first sleepover with a school friend at about 7.

I never left mine overnight till they were school aged and asked to go on sleepovers with their friends.

Not at all. Everyone is different, if you don't need to and you're not ready then done sweat it!

I've not left my ds 4 overnight either. The only person I could leave him with is my Mum and she watches him for me for a couple of days while at work when he isn't in nursery so not sure it's fair to ask her. Plus I don't feel the need to leave him overnight. He is clingy though but I'm sure he'd be fine with my Mum.

Not everyone wants to leave their child overnight and not everyone has a list of people available to leave them with either. It's not weird, do what suits you, your child and your circumstances.

Why would you leave him if you aren't comfortable with it and don't need to.

I didn't leave mine overnight until they were nearly 3 yo. There was just never a reason to.

When we did leave them, there were no problems at all. They stayed with their GPS and had a super time and we had a lovely relaxed weekend away.

It's not mandatory to leave them when they are little!

I'll have to leave DS who is 2 overnight whilst I have his brother, I'm dreading it! Hopefully all will go well and DH will be back in time for bedtime and my DPs will be here too but still ... I'm more worried about leaving him then giving birth again!

Ah so I'm not the only one-phew! Other friends say "you need time with your DH, time for yourself, go out with mates etc" I very rarely go out drinking anymore or have late nights out whilst DS is at home with DH. I knew that getting pregnant and having a baby you have to be ready to change. Going out just doesn't interest me anymore. I'd rather be at home with my family. None of my mates have children and we have just turned 30. They're not married and half of them dont even have a bf. guess they don't get it and still enjoy things that I don't. All I know is that I'm very content with life, guess that's all that matters

Weird? No. Do if you want to. Don't if you don't. My youngest is 6 one or other parent has always been there for her overnight. She's never been left with grandparents or anyone else.
Yes we may go out for a meal but no one obvious who could do an overnight. Do what you're happy with.

Mine had sleepover wih cousins at 2.5 at her request she loved it
Also had a friend to sleep over similar age
Other than those occasions im with you, why would you? Although think may go for a romantic weekend with DH next year when 3+

I agree that you need time alone with your DH and time with your friends but that doesn't necessitate an overnight.

If you aren't ready for it, wait a bit until you are.
