Just recieved an email from dd's school warning of an incident that took place in school entrance hall this morning in front of some of the children. Email just says that a parent was extremely agressive and verbally abusive to a teacher and was swearing in front of the children! I mean..what the hell? There' a time and a place!! What on earth is going through someones mind to behave like this in front of others..especially kids..sounds like it could have been really bloody scary. Going to see if I can find out a bit more but I'm fuming about it. AIBU? At least the school has
emailed about it.

Yes it was wrong but school are dealing with it - why do you need to know more?

It's good that they emailed about it, it would be worse to find out from dd. Some people don't really respect other people's children. YANBU to be annoyed at this parent but there's not an awful lot you can do about it.

It's terrible and some people really have no idea of how to conduct themselves in public. I'm not sure what you think you can do about it though, or indeed why the school should give you any more information than they have already divulged

I'd like to know that it didn't escalate any further..i.e warranting police involvement. But you're right..don't need to know more.

There is no 'time or place' to be verbally abusive and aggressive towards a teacher!

Of course it is out of order for someone to behave like that. However, these things happen, people are not perfect and I am sure the kids will get over it.
My kids would probably have enjoyed the drama :/

These things do happen unfortunately. Of course this parents behaviour was unreasonable but there are many potential reasons for this and School's have to manage a wide range of complex family dynamics and circumstances.

I don't really understand why you feel you need more information. I think they've been pretty open and transparent based on your post and it was very responsible of the school to make parents aware in case some children were upset.

Sorry piglet, what i should have said was any issues can be resolved privately in school office or after school in the classroom or whatever but agree, teachers should never be subject to this sort of behaviour.

Sounds like the school already have it in hand, not really sure how you'll benefit by knowing more details about it as it sounds like it was just an argument with/aimed at a teacher (likely to be about the parent's child).

The school deal t with it and that is all you need to know.

You don't need to ask for more information and they won't give it to you.

Of course it shouldn't happen and teachers should, like anyone else, be free to do their jobs without intimidation, but unfortunately there are plenty of twats around.

I can't see what precisely you intend to do, but don't interfere.

You sound a bit dramatic about it.

We had a father get on our school bus once, and tear strips off the bus driver for disciplining his son the previous day. The air was blue. T'was thrilling, tbh.

floggingmolly I suppose there could be many potential reasons as far as the crazed parent is concerned..still no reason for out of control behaviour in front of the children like that, what an example to set! ?

I think your kids would be lucky if they never see an altercation between adults. It shouldn't happen. Its horrible, but it sometimes does.
So long as the school dealt with it I don't think you should stress about it.

Sadly this happens when ds 1 was in primary there was a fight yes a fight between two mums and the snco who tried to split it up got a kick in the nads it was awful children were crying the 5 children of the parents Invloved started fighting the head came running the police were called very very bad show

I would imagine the school has emailed to prevent little Xavier calling his sister a fucking cow (or worse) at the dinner table, parents asking where he heard it and him saying that's what Tabitha's mum called Mrs Smith st school this morning.

Unfortunately there are parents with zero social skills and no idea of appropriate behaviour.

Sadly in some areas parents, or anyone else for that matter, going off on one is common.

I remember once my eldest being at a swimming gala and he told me afterwards that two parents had been fighting and swearing and there was even blood!

The real world is an awful place. I'm sad about it for our children but there it is.
