...to think I don't have that many clothes

I was saying to my friend that I could do with some more clothes. She said but you have loads. I was very surprised.

I have 8 tops, 1 pair of jeans, 2 pairs of black trousers, 1 pair of jogging bottoms, 2 cardigans and 2 jumpers, 3 bras, around 12 pairs of pants and a million pairs of socks. That's not many, is it?

OP posts:
Smartleatherbag · 15/10/2016 20:37

That's not loads, not at all.

user1470140070 · 15/10/2016 20:38

Nope not many at all compared to what I'd consider the average these days.

Paris1986 · 15/10/2016 20:39

Wow, I have about five times that (no exaggeration!) and usually end up not being able to decide what to wear and invariably put the same few items together Blush

Winniethepooer · 15/10/2016 20:39

No.

I might own 20 pair of jeans... I have no idea but lots more then i need!

Bertieboo1 · 15/10/2016 20:43

Definitely agree that that is a very reasonable amount! What sort of quantity does your friend have??

JasperDamerel · 15/10/2016 20:48

Not a lot. You probably just look stylish so she assumes you have more than you do.

Ilovewillow · 15/10/2016 20:51

No not many, you probably wear them wear and always look good which perhaps make her think you have more than you do!

kurlique · 15/10/2016 20:59

Holy smoke you have hardly any clothes... My mum is always trying to make me buy more clothes because she says I hardly have any and I have LOADS more than you!!

gamerwidow · 15/10/2016 20:59

That nearly represents the clothes I'd take for a week away. I must have at least 4-5 times that amount and compared to some I know my wardrobe is tiny.

BristolLFR · 15/10/2016 21:03

That's hardly anything. I think I've bought more maternity wear than that in the last couple of months.

I've vacpavked all my "normal" clothes and I have to say, my new streamlined (in volume, definitely not style!) wardrobe does bring me a lovely sense of calm! I've got good intentions of building up a new refined wardrobe post baby with key quality pieces rather than just reverting to my sales/ supermarket clothes chaos...maybe

cardibach · 15/10/2016 21:06

Looking at the packing threads for summer, OP! People pack more than that for a week away and insist they aren't over-packing!

JoJoSM2 · 16/10/2016 03:46

Have you not got any dresses or skirts? Jackets? Seasonal clothes? I can't believe that anyone would have that few items.

SusanneLinder · 16/10/2016 03:49

I have more than that in my washing basket! Girl you need to shop!

Katedotness1963 · 16/10/2016 04:00

That's about what I have. A few less socks, I think...

buttercup15 · 16/10/2016 04:25

I agree with JoJo. Are you just counting things that you normally wear day-to-day? Have you not got any going out clothes, wedding outfits, jackets, sports wear, summer holiday stuff?

RebootYourEngine · 16/10/2016 04:56

That is less than i would pack for a weekend away never mind a week.

My family are the opposite, they tell me i have too many clothes. Dixie you need to go shopping.

BreatheDeep · 16/10/2016 05:04

How do you stay warm in the winter? Wash one wear one with your jumpers? I couldn't even count how many clothes i have. But I have more 'going out' dresses than you have trousers! I don't even understand how you cope!

e1y1 · 16/10/2016 05:04

No that is not that many at all.

I have easily 20 times that (a bit of me wishes I were kidding Blush.

DH and DC's are even worse.

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/10/2016 05:26

My dd has tons more than that. She's 8. How do you manage to wash and turn that all around without running out of clothes?

TheRattleBag · 16/10/2016 05:42

Is your friend Marie Kondo?? Doesn't seem many at all!

KC225 · 16/10/2016 07:04

What about going out? And as other have said, seasonal like summer shorts, dresses. Do you clear out often? Agree though, not a lot.

livingthegoodlife · 16/10/2016 07:39

I have one pair of jeans, 2 pairs of coloured jeans, 1 leggings, about 5 jumpers, 10 t shirts, about 5 skirts. About 5 dresses. Loads of underwear. Plus wedding/occasion wear.

It's about half a wardrobe worth and 2 Malm drawers.

I don't think I have much either but I always seem to have something to wear. I wouldn't worry if i was you OP. It just means your wardrobe is more streamlined.

buttercup15 · 16/10/2016 09:13

living I aspire to be like you! Wish I could get my wardrobe down to that!

myownprivateidaho · 16/10/2016 09:29

No that's hardly any. But why on earth would your friend know how many clothes you have? Why would you expect her to know? Why would you care what she thinks?

RebelandaStunner · 16/10/2016 09:35

1 pair of jeans? I have about 8.
Yours is a minimalist wardrobe.
Are you French and very chic?
