to think this is a bit crap from daycare

So little 9 month old is on day 4 of daycare.
Caught a stomach bug day one so not 100% but doctor has said he's ok to go back.
I get a phonemail at 3pm today from the director of the centre "He's been very unsettled today and he hasn't been eating or sleeping very much... I think we have a problem.. could you possibly cut down your work days to some half days?" err - not really.
It's a very expensive, private daycare and on his first day they raved about what an easy baby he is...
I went in and discovered on his form that nobody had given him milk for 5 hours! So no wonder he was unhappy.
I gave him a bottle there and told them nicely (I don't want to get them offside too early) but firmly that a 9 month old needs his milk. I feel horrible now - he looked so upset and hungry. Is this normal? Am I being precious? I am in Australia, so apologies for the different terms

You would have thought somebody would have had the sense to check his form before they telephoned you

Yanbu they sound rubbish tbh. He'll take a while to settle in anyway so calling on his second? day there to say he's unsettled is ridiculous and forgetting his milk isn't great either. It's not a great start....

That's horrible! The bug is unfortunate. Could possibly be a sign of poor hygiene at the facility although of course babies are unhygienic creatures and do pick up lots of bugs when they start nursery

But it's his second session, it's normal for him to not be settled yet! They should be reassuring you and helping you to help him settle, not suggesting you change your hours! They might suggest initially shorter days for him, but if you can't do that then you can't, you won't be the first or last in that position and they should be used to that.

I know - I couldn't believe it to be honest. And she had a really officious tone when she was suggesting that there was some big problem - filling me with anxiety. He is honestly is the easiest baby in the world! I don't really know what to do from here because getting a place somewhere else is impossible over here (we're talking year long wait lists)! I really want to be kind and give them the benefit of the doubt but literally every day I tell them he needs lots of milk (as per guidelines for his age) but it doesn't seem to sink in! Argh!
