I'm feeling reflective tonight. May be the Wine

My AIBU is to ask what is the silliest thing that has annoyed/upset you as a single parent/cooparent/stepparent? Mine is:

I had spoken to DD about painting her nails for the first time. She wanted them done for a party she was going to on the bank holiday Monday. As I dropped her off at her father's on the Friday (she was clingy and wanted to stay with me) I reminded her that 'mummy will paint your nails for Sally's* party on Monday.'

Ex piped up 'well actually my girlfriend wants to paint her nails this weekend so you shouldn't bother'.

I cried all the way home from the drop off at the thought of not painting my girl's nails for the first time - that someone else was doing it. Silly I know!

*Sally not the real name. Names changed to protect the innocent.

Could you not have asked her not to?

Aww I remember that feeling when my DD came home at 5 with her nails painted for first time by the Then GF, I could write a book on shit that used to bug me that I would do that head tilt and say 'that's nice' in that higher pitched tone. Looking back I realise she was insecure in the relationship, trying to win my DD over and attempting to mark her territory, funny thing was couldn't stand my ex and that shit only washes with kids for so long as a young adult now my DD learnt by herself what a pair of selfish bellends they are and doesn't want to see them.
